Overview

The UTY-NXT / myanywAiR NEXT Wi-Fi adaptor stores the Wi-Fi network name, also known as the SSID, and Wi-Fi password that were used during the original setup. If the customer changes their modem/router, internet provider, Wi-Fi network name, or Wi-Fi password, the adaptor may remain connected to the old saved details and the air conditioner may show as offline in the myanywAiR NEXT app. Fujitsu General’s support guidance confirms that a router, SSID, or Wi-Fi credential change can require the myanywAiR NEXT device to be reconnected or reset. This can be more difficult on ducted installations, as the UTY-NXT device is often installed near the indoor unit in the ceiling space. In these cases, accessing the device to perform a reset may require ceiling access, return-air grille access, or a technician.

Recommended first step

Before resetting the UTY-NXT device, the easiest option is usually to update the new modem/router so it uses the same Wi-Fi name and password as the old modem/router.

When the new router uses the same SSID and Wi-Fi password as the previous router, devices that were connected to the old Wi-Fi network will generally reconnect automatically to the new router. This can avoid the need to access the UTY-NXT device in the ceiling and may also reconnect other household devices such as phones, tablets, TVs, printers, cameras, and smart-home devices.

When to use this solution

Use this solution when:

  • The air conditioner is showing as offline in the myanywAiR NEXT app.

  • The customer has recently changed modem/router or internet provider.

  • The Wi-Fi network name or password has changed.

  • The UTY-NXT device is installed on a ducted unit and is difficult to physically access.

  • The customer still knows the previous Wi-Fi network name and password.

What the customer needs

The customer will need:

  • The old Wi-Fi network name, also called SSID.

  • The old Wi-Fi password.

  • Access to the new modem/router settings.

  • The router admin login details, usually found on the modem/router label, in the router app, or provided by the internet provider.

Recommended process

  1. Ask the customer to confirm the previous Wi-Fi network name and password.

  2. Log in to the new modem/router settings using the router app or web browser.

  3. Change the new router’s Wi-Fi network name to exactly match the old SSID.

  4. Change the new router’s Wi-Fi password to exactly match the old password.

  5. Save the settings.

  6. Restart the router if required.

  7. Allow several minutes for the UTY-NXT and other Wi-Fi devices to reconnect.

  8. Open the myanywAiR NEXT app and check whether the air conditioner returns online.

Important notes

The SSID and password must be entered exactly the same as the previous router, including capital letters, spaces, numbers, and special characters.

If the router has separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks, apply the old SSID and password to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Many air-conditioning Wi-Fi devices and smart-home devices require or prefer 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.

If the router uses band steering, smart connect, or a combined Wi-Fi name for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, ensure the combined Wi-Fi name and password match the old details.

If the old SSID or password is not known, the UTY-NXT may need to be reset and added again through the myanywAiR NEXT app. Fujitsu General’s support articles provide reset and reconnection guidance for myanywAiR NEXT devices. (Fujitsu ANZ)

If the device still does not reconnect

If the UTY-NXT does not reconnect after the new router has been updated with the old SSID and password:

  1. Restart the modem/router.

  2. Turn the air conditioner power off and back on at the isolator or circuit breaker where safe to do so.

  3. Wait several minutes and check the myanywAiR NEXT app again.

  4. Confirm the SSID and password match the old router exactly.

  5. Confirm the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network is enabled.

  6. If still offline, proceed with the myanywAiR NEXT reset and reconnection process.

For ducted installations where the UTY-NXT device is installed in the ceiling space, a service technician may be required if physical access to the adaptor or indoor unit is needed.
