UTY-ZCAW1 anywAiR Zoneconnex

Installation, wiring, Wi-Fi setup and zone commissioning
For compatible GENERAL AIRSTAGE ducted air conditioning systems fitted with a UART port
Purpose: This article provides a practical installation and commissioning reference for the UTY-ZCAW1 anywAiR Zoneconnex, including controller mounting, TouchPoint LCD wiring, UART connection, Wi-Fi configuration, installer access and zone setup.
Authorised personnel only: Installation and servicing must be carried out by authorised and qualified personnel. Isolate the air conditioning system before any power or wiring work. Use only supplied or approved power supplies, antennas and cables.

1. Compatibility

The Zoneconnex system is compatible with selected GENERAL AIRSTAGE ducted air conditioners that have UART ports. Compatibility must be confirmed before installation.

Do not assume compatibility from the product family alone. Confirm that the indoor unit provides the required UART connection before installing the UTY-ZCAW1.

3Pivot the bottom toward the rail until the lower clip snaps into place.
4Gently pull forward to confirm the controller is securely mounted.

4.2 Direct mounting

  • Attach the mounting clips to the back of the controller if they are not already fitted.
  • Position the controller at the mounting location and mark the fixing points.
  • Drill holes and insert wall plugs if required.
  • Secure the controller using suitable screws or fixings.
  • Gently pull forward to confirm the controller is firmly mounted.

4.3 TouchPoint LCD mounting

  • Release the two bottom clips and remove the LCD from its housing.
  • Hold the housing against the wall and mark the fixing points.
  • Drill holes and insert wall plugs if required.
  • Secure the housing to the wall with screws.
  • Feed the pre-wired cable through the required cable-entry point.
  • Re-install the LCD by engaging the top clips first, then pressing the bottom clips into place.
LCD retaining clip warning: When releasing the TouchPoint LCD, place a flat-blade screwdriver against the angled edge of the retaining clip furthest from the LCD screen and gently lever the clip away from the housing. Do not insert the screwdriver into the slot closest to the LCD screen.

5. Power and wiring

Before wiring: The air conditioning unit must be isolated and switched off before any Zoneconnex power, UART or LCD wiring is connected.

5.1 Zoneconnex power supply

Connect the pre-wired AC power supply to the Zoneconnex 24VAC terminals 1 and 2.

Pin 224VAC

5.2 UART connection to the indoor unit

Route the supplied UART cable into the air conditioning unit control panel and connect it to the CN65 or CN75 connection via the UART interface.

Connection check: Confirm the actual UART connector provided on the applicable indoor unit before connecting. The installation guide identifies CN65 or CN75 as the connection points used via the UART interface.

5.3 TouchPoint LCD RS485 and power

The TouchPoint LCD:

  • Communicates with Zoneconnex via Modbus RS485.
  • Receives 18VDC power from the Zoneconnex controller.
