Outdoor Unit Abnormal Reset

Function setting F3-40
Procedure for clearing a latched outdoor unit abnormal or protection error after the underlying fault has been rectified
Use function setting F3-40 when the applicable service information instructs that an error reset is required after repairing the cause of an outdoor unit fault. The reset does not repair the fault and should only be completed after all diagnostic and corrective work is finished.
Important: Do not repeatedly reset a unit without identifying and correcting the original fault. Isolate power and follow all electrical safety and service-manual requirements before working inside the outdoor unit.

1. Abnormal reset procedure

1Press MODE/EXIT until the outdoor unit display shows F1.
2Press SELECT until the display shows F2.
3Press SELECT again until the display shows F3.
4Press ENTER. The display should show 00--.
5Press SELECT until the display shows 40--.
6Press and hold ENTER until the display shows donE.
7Switch the outdoor unit power off for 2 minutes, then restore power.

2. Verification after reset

After restoring power, allow the outdoor unit to complete its normal startup process. Confirm that the original error code does not return and complete an operational test in the required mode.
  • Confirm the outdoor unit display returns to its normal standby or operating indication.
  • Check that the original abnormal code has cleared.
  • Run the system and verify the repaired component operates correctly.
  • If the error returns, stop the unit and continue diagnosis. Do not repeat the reset as a substitute for repair.

3. Important service notes

For errors such as E94.1 / 9U / 94, the applicable troubleshooting flow requires the cause of the inverter-compressor overcurrent protection to be corrected before completing the F3-40 reset and power cycle.
