How to Set Up the anywAiR System on Your Devices
Wall-mounted touchscreen, Wi-Fi, mobile app and remote access guide
Use this guide to connect the anywAiR touchscreen to Wi-Fi, install the mobile app and enable control from an Apple or Android device.
Before starting: Have the home Wi-Fi network name and password available. The wall-mounted touchscreen and mobile device must initially be connected to the same local Wi-Fi network.
1. Wall-mounted touchscreen
The anywAiR application operates from a dedicated Android wall-mounted touchscreen, which acts as the main control hub for the air-conditioning and zoning system.
- The touchscreen can be used in portrait or landscape orientation where supported by the mounting arrangement.
- Press the Android Home button to leave the anywAiR application and access Wi-Fi settings or other approved applications.
- The touchscreen may use a fixed Android operating-system version. Application updates may still be provided where required.
Important: Do not factory-reset the touchscreen unless instructed by General Assist. A factory reset may remove the applications required for communication with the anywAiR control box.
2. Connect the touchscreen to home Wi-Fi
1
Confirm the home Wi-Fi network is operating and have the password available.
2
On the wall-mounted touchscreen, press the Android Home button.
3
Open Settings, then select Wi-Fi or Network & Internet.
4
Select the home Wi-Fi network from the available network list.
5
Enter the Wi-Fi password and select Connect.
6
Allow up to two minutes for the connection to complete. Confirm Connected appears below the selected network.
Tip: The Wi-Fi network name and default password may be printed on a label underneath or behind the home router.
3. Set up an Apple device
- Connect the iPhone or iPad to the same home Wi-Fi network as the anywAiR touchscreen.
- Open the App Store.
- Search for the approved anywAiR application.
- Select Get, then complete installation using the Apple ID or device authentication when prompted.
- Open the anywAiR application while the mobile device remains connected to the same home Wi-Fi network.
- Allow approximately 10 seconds for the mobile device to discover and pair with the wall-mounted touchscreen.
If the application is not visible or will not install, check that the Apple device is running a supported iOS version and that sufficient storage is available.
4. Set up an Android device
- Connect the Android phone or tablet to the same home Wi-Fi network as the anywAiR touchscreen.
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Sign in with a Google account if requested.
- Search for the approved anywAiR application.
- Select Install and accept any required permissions.
- Open the anywAiR application while connected to the same home Wi-Fi network as the touchscreen.
- Allow approximately 10 seconds for the system to be discovered and paired.
5. Enable remote access
Remote access allows the anywAiR system to be controlled from a mobile device when it is away from the home Wi-Fi network and using mobile data or another internet connection.
Before enabling remote access: Confirm the wall-mounted touchscreen is connected to the internet and that the mobile device can already control the system while connected to the same home Wi-Fi network.
| 1 | Open the anywAiR application on the wall-mounted touchscreen. |
| 2 | Open Setup, then select Remote Access. |
| 3 | Turn the Remote Access toggle on. The control may change colour to confirm it has been enabled. |
| 4 | Allow up to five minutes for remote access to register. A status of AA26 indicates that remote access should be operational. |
| 5 | Open the anywAiR app on the mobile device while it is connected to the same home Wi-Fi network and leave it open for at least 10 seconds. |
| 6 | Turn off Wi-Fi on the mobile device and test operation using mobile data. |
Note: Disabling remote access may remove previously paired mobile devices. Each device may need to be paired again from the home Wi-Fi network after remote access is re-enabled.
Remote access status codes
| Status | Meaning | Action |
|---|---|---|
| AA20 | No internet access | Check the touchscreen is connected to home Wi-Fi and can access the internet. |
| AA21 | Remote connection error | Wait 10 minutes, then retry. |
| AA22 | Touchscreen has lost internet connection | Reconnect the touchscreen to Wi-Fi and confirm internet access. |
| AA26 | Remote access is available | If the phone still cannot connect, reconnect it to the home Wi-Fi network and leave the app open for 10 seconds. |
6. Network troubleshooting
| Issue | Recommended checks |
|---|---|
| Touchscreen repeatedly disconnects | Check Wi-Fi signal strength, forget and reconnect to the network, restart the touchscreen, then restart the router. |
| Remote access will not enable | Confirm the touchscreen can open a website in its browser. Test using a mobile hotspot to determine whether the home router is blocking the connection. |
| Mobile device cannot find the system | Confirm both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, update the anywAiR app, close and reopen the app, then restart both devices. |
| Works locally but not remotely | Confirm the status is AA26, check mobile data permissions for the anywAiR app and pair the mobile device again while connected to the home Wi-Fi network. |
| App is out of date | Update the anywAiR application on both the touchscreen and mobile device. Do not uninstall system applications unless instructed. |
