| Legacy adaptor | UTY-TFNXZ1, UTY-TFNXZ2, UTY-TFNXZ3 and UTY-TFNXZ4 were part of the original FGLair Wi-Fi platform. The Oceania version was UTY-TFNXZ3. |
| Availability | The legacy adaptor is no longer sold by General Australia. Do not offer a like-for-like replacement. |
| Communication | The original adaptor connected through the older UART / wired-controller communication pathway. |
| Possible current alternative | The UTY-NXT adaptor may be technically capable of communicating with some of these indoor units, but this conversion has not been formally tested or validated as a supported retrofit. |
| Required connection part | Where a UTY-NXT retrofit is considered, the UTY-NXT-CAB is also required to connect the adaptor to the indoor unit PCB. |
| Warranty / outcome | Do not guarantee compatibility, commissioning success, app registration or ongoing operation. The customer must understand that this is an untested retrofit pathway. |
Legacy system indicators UTY-TFNXZ / FGLair Look for a small external adaptor marked WLAN Adapter, an FGLair reference, and model numbers UTY-TFNXZ1, Z2, Z3 or Z4. The original adaptor has green and orange indicator LEDs and a setting button. | Information required Before providing advice Obtain the full indoor model number, a photo of the existing Wi-Fi adaptor and cable connection, the indoor PCB connection point, and confirmation of whether a wired controller or zone interface is installed. |
| 1. Confirm UTY-TFNXZ legacy adaptor |

| 2. Record the full indoor unit model and existing control arrangement |
| ↓ |
| 3. Explain that the original adaptor is discontinued and there is no supported direct replacement |
| ↓ |
| 4. Consider UTY-NXT + UTY-NXT-CAB only as an untested technical retrofit |
| ↓ |
| 5. Licensed installer assesses PCB access, cable connection and control conflicts |
| ↓ |
| 6. Customer accepts that compatibility and operation are not guaranteed |
| Proceed for technical assessment The indoor model and PCB connection have been confirmed, the UTY-NXT-CAB can be installed, and the customer understands the conversion is untested. | Do not recommend The indoor model is unknown, PCB access cannot be confirmed, another controller occupies the communication connection, or the customer expects a guaranteed plug-and-play replacement. |
The Wi-Fi adaptor installed on your system is part of the older UTY-TFNXZ / FGLair range, which is no longer available for sale.
The current UTY-NXT Wi-Fi adaptor may be technically capable of operating with some older indoor units; however, this conversion has not been tested or validated as a supported replacement. We are therefore unable to guarantee compatibility, commissioning or ongoing operation.
Where a conversion is considered, both the UTY-NXT adaptor and UTY-NXT-CAB connection cable will be required. A licensed installer must access the indoor unit PCB, confirm the available connection and assess whether the existing controller arrangement permits the installation.
Please provide the full indoor unit model number and photographs of the existing adaptor and its connection so the proposed installation can be assessed before any parts are ordered.
| 1 | Confirm the adaptor model is from the UTY-TFNXZ range. |
| 2 | Obtain the complete indoor unit model number. |
| 3 | Confirm whether a wired controller, zone interface or another device is connected to the controller communication pathway. |
| 4 | Advise that the legacy adaptor is discontinued and the UTY-NXT conversion is untested. |
| 5 | Confirm that UTY-NXT-CAB is required in addition to the adaptor. |
| 6 | Do not promise plug-and-play compatibility or guaranteed operation. |
