UTY-LNHY Wireless Remote Controller
Operation, timers, airflow control, group control and troubleshooting
For compatible VRF indoor units
The UTY-LNHY supports standard day-to-day operation, airflow control, timer functions, economy mode, sleep mode and grouped control of multiple indoor units. It can also be used jointly with wired remote controllers in supported applications.
1. Key features
- Four timer modes: ON, OFF, PROGRAM and SLEEP.
- Can control up to 16 indoor units in one remote controller group.
- Can be used jointly with wired remote controllers.
- Supports changing the remote controller custom code for up to four types.
- Supports vertical and horizontal airflow direction and swing functions on compatible indoor units.
2. Remote controller button functions
| Button / Function | Operation |

| MODE | Select AUTO, HEAT, FAN, COOL or DRY where supported. |
| START / STOP | Turns the indoor unit on or off. |
| SET TEMP | Adjusts the indoor temperature setpoint. Also used when setting the remote controller custom code. |
| FAN | Selects AUTO, LOW, MED or HIGH fan speed. |
| Airflow direction | Separate controls for vertical airflow, horizontal airflow and swing operation. |
| ECONOMY | Enables economy operation where supported. |
| SLEEP | Selects sleep timer operation. |
Mode limitations:
- AUTO is not available for a heat pump model unless it is configured as an administrative indoor unit.
- FAN is not available for a heat pump model.
- HEAT is not available for a cooling-only model.
3. Timer operation
Press TIMER MODE to cycle through:
- OFF TIMER
- ON TIMER
- PROGRAM TIMER
- TIMER RESET
Use TIMER SET + / - to adjust the current time and timer settings.
Clock first: Use CLOCK ADJUST to set the current time before configuring timer functions, as timer operation depends on the clock being correct.

5. Group control capability
The UTY-LNHY can control up to 16 indoor units within one remote controller group. This is useful where a single wireless controller is intended to operate multiple indoor units together.
It can also be used jointly with wired remote controllers where the system design supports this arrangement.
6. Signal and operating precautions
If the indoor unit does not respond to the remote controller:
- Ensure there is no curtain, wall or obstruction between the remote and receiver window.
- Avoid interference from instant-start fluorescent lighting or similar light sources.
- Reduce direct sunlight or strong indoor lighting on the receiver window where possible.
7. Battery reset and test run
- Press RESET after replacing the batteries.
- Use TEST RUN when testing the air conditioner after installation.

9. Recommended troubleshooting steps
- Confirm the indoor unit is compatible with the UTY-LNHY.
- Confirm the selected mode is available for that indoor unit type.
- Check the batteries and press RESET after battery replacement.
- Aim the remote directly at the indoor unit receiver window.
- Remove obstructions and reduce strong-light interference.
- Confirm the unit is not being limited by central control, group-control logic or another connected controller.
- If group control is used, confirm all indoor units are correctly assigned within the same remote controller group.
Quick reference: For most no-response complaints, first check batteries, line-of-sight to the receiver, lighting interference, control limitations and group assignment before suspecting the remote controller itself.
