Summary

This article explains how to turn the Child Lock on or off for UTY-RNR–range wired remotes. The lock prevents accidental operation by disabling touch inputs on the Monitor Mode screen.

Applies to

  • UTY-RNR range wired remote controllers

What the lock does

  • Disables touch input on the Monitor Mode screen.

  • Power to the indoor unit is unaffected; the lock simply blocks user interaction.

Important prerequisites

  • You must be on the Monitor Mode screen. The setting cannot be changed from other screens.

  • The lock can be set or reset even when the indoor unit is stopped.

Enable Child Lock

  1. Navigate to the Monitor Mode screen.

  2. With one finger, touch and hold any blank area outside the operation section of the screen.

  3. While still touching the blank area, press and hold the On/Off button for ≥ 4 seconds.

  4. Release both. A confirmation (beep/indicator) shows the lock is active.

Disable (Release) Child Lock

  1. Ensure you are on the Monitor Mode screen.

  2. Touch and hold any blank area outside the operation section.

  3. Press and hold On/Off for ≥ 4 seconds.

  4. Release both to restore normal operation.

If it doesn’t work

  • Confirm you are on Monitor Mode (not a settings/menu screen).

  • Try again and keep both presses held for at least 4 seconds.

  • Clean/dry the touch surface and use firm fingertip contact.

  • Power the controller off/on at the indoor unit isolator and repeat.

  • If still locked, check for a stuck key or screen overlay; escalate for service if necessary.
