Thank you for reaching out about setting up your AnywAir Next Wi-Fi adapter using a mobile hotspot.
To successfully connect, please note:
- You need two devices: One to provide the hotspot and another to configure the adapter. You cannot set up the device using the same phone that is providing the hotspot.
- Once the dongle is paired to the hotspot, you can then use the AnywAir Next app on the phone providing the hotspot to control the AC unit.
- The hotspot must be 2.4GHz: Some devices do not broadcast on the 2.4GHz spectrum, which is required for setup.
- For iPhones: You can enable “Maximize Compatibility” in your hotspot settings to ensure it uses a 2.4GHz connection.
- For Android devices: There is no direct equivalent setting, but you can try the following methods to ensure a 2.4GHz connection:
Option 1: Temporarily Disable 5GHz on Your Router
- Log into your router settings (refer to your router’s manual).
- Disable the 5GHz band temporarily.
- Connect your Android device to Wi-Fi and complete setup.
- Re-enable 5GHz after setup.
Option 2: Create a Separate 2.4GHz SSID
- Access your router’s Wi-Fi settings.
- Create a separate Wi-Fi name (SSID) for 2.4GHz (e.g., "MyWiFi_2.4GHz").
- Connect your Android device to this network.
Option 3: Force a 2.4GHz Connection on Android
(Some Android devices allow this setting)
- Open Wi-Fi settings on your Android device.
- Tap the connected network and check for "Frequency Band" or "Advanced Settings."
- If available, set it to 2.4GHz only.
Option 4: Use a Wi-Fi Analyzer App
- Download a Wi-Fi analyzer app from the Play Store.
- Check if your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz or 5GHz network.
- If on 5GHz, switch to a different network.
