Overview

The Automatic Off Function in Fujitsu General’s VRF system is a smart feature designed to enhance energy efficiency by automatically turning off the air conditioning system after detecting inactivity for a set duration. This functionality helps reduce energy consumption, especially in spaces with intermittent occupancy, such as offices, conference rooms, and hotel rooms.

Key Features of the Automatic Off Function

  1. Occupancy-Based Control:

    • Utilizes external inputs, such as occupancy sensors or keycard systems, to monitor room usage.

  2. Customizable Timeout Duration:

    • Allows the user to set the inactivity duration before the system powers down automatically.

  3. Energy Savings:

    • Prevents unnecessary energy usage by shutting off the system when the space is unoccupied.

  4. System-Wide Integration:

    • Works seamlessly with other VRF features, such as the keycard interlock and human sensor functions.

Use Cases

  • Hotel Rooms: Automatically turns off air conditioning when guests leave the room without removing the keycard.

  • Conference Rooms: Shuts down cooling or heating after meetings to prevent wasted energy.

  • Office Spaces: Ensures unused areas are not unnecessarily cooled or heated after working hours.

Setting Up the Automatic Off Function

  1. Install Necessary Hardware:

    • Ensure an external input device, such as an occupancy sensor or keycard system, is installed and connected to the VRF unit using the appropriate terminals (e.g., UTY-XWZXZD connection kit).

  2. Access Function Settings:

    • Use the remote controller or central control panel to navigate to the function setup menu.

  3. Set Function Parameters:

    • Enter the Function No. and Setting No. corresponding to the Automatic Off Function:

      • Function No.: 46 (External Input Control)

      • Setting No.: Configure timeout duration (e.g., 15 minutes, 30 minutes).

  4. Save and Test the Configuration:

    • Confirm the settings and simulate inactivity (e.g., no movement detected or keycard removed) to verify the system shuts off as expected.
