Test Run from Remote Controller

How to place an air conditioner into Test Run operation
Instructions for wired and wireless remote controllers
A Test Run can be started in several different ways depending on the remote controller and indoor unit model. Test Run operation bypasses normal room-temperature demand and operates the system in either Forced Cooling or Forced Heating.

1. What Does Test Run Do?

Test Run is primarily used during installation, commissioning and service work to force the air conditioner to operate without waiting for the normal room-temperature control conditions.

Normal OperationOperation is controlled according to room temperature and set temperature.
Test RunRoom-temperature demand is bypassed so the system can operate in forced cooling or forced heating.
Important: The exact Test Run method depends on the remote controller and indoor unit model. Use the procedure applicable to the controller installed on the system.

2. Wired Remote Controller – UTY-RNNYN

For the UTY-RNNYN wired remote controller, Test Run is activated using a button combination.

1Stop the air conditioner operation.
2Press the Master Control button and the Fan Control button simultaneously for approximately 2 seconds or more.
3Confirm that the Test Run indication appears on the remote controller display.
4To stop Test Run, press the START/STOP button.
UTY-RNNYN: Stop operation → Hold Master Control + Fan Control for 2 seconds or more → Test Run starts.

3. Wired Remote Controller – UTY-RVNYN

The UTY-RVNYN controller provides Test Run through the controller's Service menu.

1Access the controller's Service menu.
2Select Test Run from the Service menu.
3Follow the controller prompts to begin Test Run operation.

5. Wireless Remote Controller

Many wireless remote controllers include a dedicated TEST RUN button.

The TEST RUN button is commonly a small recessed button on the remote controller and may require a pen tip or similar non-damaging object to operate.
1Locate the recessed TEST RUN button on the wireless remote controller.
2Point the remote controller towards the indoor unit receiver.
3Press the TEST RUN button to initiate Test Run operation.

Manual AUTO / Forced Cooling

Some indoor units can also be placed into forced operation using the MANUAL AUTO button located on the indoor unit.

MANUAL AUTO: Press and hold the button for more than 3 seconds to initiate Forced Cooling Operation.
Model variation: Button location, required press duration and available forced-operation functions can vary between indoor unit models. Always refer to the applicable service or installation manual where available.
