Inverter Checker – EDC-IPC.4040.0
Use the EDC inverter checker to confirm the switching output from the inverter/IPM to the compressor phases.
What the checker does
The inverter checker displays the IPM's DC switching output from the P and N DC bus through to the compressor outputs U, V and W.
The inverter checker displays the IPM's DC switching output from the P and N DC bus through to the compressor outputs U, V and W.
Connection
The inverter checker is connected in place of the compressor.
| Checker terminal | Compressor phase |
|---|---|
| 1 | U |
| 2 | V |
| 3 | W |
High voltage
This test is intended for appropriately qualified service personnel. Follow normal electrical isolation and safe-working procedures when disconnecting the compressor and connecting the checker.

Expected operation
- Operate the system so the inverter is commanded to drive the compressor.
- The checker LEDs should flash in a rotating sequence, simulating compressor rotation.
- The sequence will normally display for approximately 10 seconds.
- The indication will then pause because there is no rotating compressor feedback.
Interpreting the LEDs
| LED behaviour | Indication |
|---|---|
| Rotating sequence | The inverter/IPM is producing a switching sequence across U, V and W. |
| LED stuck ON | There may be a short within the TR PCB between phases. |
Important limitation
The EDC-IPC.4040.0 does not test the inverter under load. It is an indication of the inverter switching output only and should not be treated as a full load test of the inverter circuit.
