KMTC Demo Mode Activation
Operating a KMTC indoor unit without outdoor-unit communication
For training, showroom display and diagnostic demonstrations
Demo Mode allows a compatible KMTC indoor unit to operate without displaying an outdoor-unit communication error. The indoor unit can then respond to remote-controller or Wi-Fi commands for functions such as on/off, fan speed and louvre operation.
Power-loss behaviour: Demo Mode is not permanently stored. It remains active only until the indoor unit is unplugged or loses power at the switch, isolator or circuit breaker.
1. Before starting
- Read the complete procedure before commencing.
- Use the infrared remote controller and aim it directly at the indoor-unit receiver.
- The indoor unit should beep when each command is received.
- When moving between operating modes, scroll continuously to the required mode and do not pause on an intermediate mode.
- Wait for the confirmation beep after each required mode selection.
Example: To move from FAN to COOL, scroll through any intermediate modes quickly, stop on COOL, then wait for the confirmation beep.
2. Demo Mode activation procedure
Step 1 — Prepare the remote controller
| 1 | Press the remote controller power button so the controller is switched ON. |
| 2 | Set the operating mode to FAN. |
| 3 | Leave the controller switched on and in FAN mode. |
Step 2 — Prepare the indoor unit
| 1 | Disconnect power to the indoor unit. |
| 2 | Wait 10 seconds, then restore power. |
| 3 | Immediately press and hold the Manual Auto button on the indoor unit. |
| 4 | A first beep should sound after approximately 3 seconds. Continue holding the button. |
| 5 | After approximately 10 seconds, a second beep should sound. Release the button once the indoor unit turns on and the louvres open. |
Step 3 — Enter the mode sequence
Important: Complete the sequence in order. When selecting each required mode, do not pause on intermediate modes.
| Sequence | Required change |
|---|---|
| 1 | FAN → FAN |
| 2 | FAN → COOL |
| 3 | COOL → FAN |
| 4 | FAN → DRY |
| 5 | DRY → FAN |
3. Confirm successful activation
Successful activation: The indoor unit turns off automatically and the louvre closes after the final DRY → FAN command.
| Check | Expected result |
|---|---|
| Indicator lamps | No communication-error lamp sequence is flashing. |
| Remote operation | The indoor unit responds to on/off, fan and louvre commands. |
| Wi-Fi operation | A connected Wi-Fi adaptor can operate available indoor-unit functions. |
| Outdoor communication | The unit can be demonstrated without an outdoor unit connected. |
4. Exit Demo Mode
To return the indoor unit to normal operation:
| 1 | Disconnect power to the indoor unit using the plug, isolating switch or circuit breaker. |
| 2 | Restore power. The indoor unit will return to its standard communication mode. |
If the unit must remain in Demo Mode after a power interruption, repeat the complete activation procedure.
