Wall Controller Sensor Calibration and Temperature Offsets
1. General rule
Under normal circumstances, the temperature sensor in a wall controller cannot be manually calibrated or adjusted.
A difference between the displayed temperature and the temperature measured elsewhere in the room is commonly caused by:
- Controller position, including direct sunlight or nearby supply air.
- Heat transfer through the wall or wall cavity behind the controller.
- Local air circulation and natural temperature variation within the room.
- Comparison with a thermometer located at a different height or position.
2. Models supporting offset through the indoor PCB
For selected indoor units in the AOTxxLJBYL / LMADL series, temperature offset adjustment may be available directly on the indoor-unit printed circuit board.
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Adjustment method | PCB jumper or DIP-switch configuration. |
| Reference | Use the service manual for the exact indoor-unit model. |
| Precaution | Do not assume that settings are common across all units in the range. |
3. UTY-RNRYT5 room-temperature offset
The UTY-RNRYT5 wired remote controller includes a software-based room-temperature offset function.
Activation and adjustment procedure
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Set the Backup DIP switch to ON. The switch is located on the rear of the controller and enables access to the offset function. |
| 2 | Enable the RC sensor. In the controller settings, select the Remote Controller sensor as the active room-temperature sensor. |
| 3 | Make the sensor reading visible. Set the Sensor Reading display to visible on the main screen. |
| 4 | Open the offset menu. From the Initial Setting screen, press and hold the Power button for at least 5 seconds. The Room Temp. Offset screen will appear. |
| 5 | Set the correction. Use the plus or minus touch keys to adjust the offset. |
| 6 | Save the setting. Select OK to confirm and return to the Initial Setting screen. |
Refer to the UTY-RNRYT5 installation manual, Section 6.3.12, for the controller-specific menu sequence and visual reference.
4. Operational notes and warranty guidance
The offset function provides a uniform correction to compensate for a minor difference between the controller's detected temperature and the preferred room reference temperature.
It is not intended to correct room-temperature variation caused by installation or environmental conditions, including:
- Direct sunlight falling on the controller.
- Heat transfer from the wall surface or wall cavity.
- Supply-air discharge or drafts affecting the controller.
- Non-uniform air temperature or poor circulation within the room.
5. Quick reference
| Controller or system | Offset available | Adjustment method | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard wall controllers | No | Not applicable | Factory-calibrated only. |
| AOTxxLJBYL / LMADL systems | Yes | Indoor PCB DIP switch or jumper | Refer to the applicable service manual. |
| UTY-RNRYT5 | Yes | Digital room-temperature offset | Backup DIP switch ON, RC sensor enabled; range -4.0 °C to +4.0 °C. |
