Error Code 17.1 – Energy Apportionment Error
Error 17.1 indicates that the Energy Calculation Adapter cannot reliably allocate energy usage data across the connected indoor units. The most common causes are loss of power to one or more units, communication interruption, incorrect date or time settings, or recent system configuration changes.
Important: A red exclamation mark beside an indoor unit usually indicates that the unit is in error, powered down, or no longer communicating with the controller network.
1. Error meaning
| Error code | 17.1 |
| Description | Energy Apportionment Error |
| Related component | Energy Calculation Adapter (ECA) |
| Typical cause | The ECA cannot maintain a complete and consistent record of energy data for all connected indoor units. |
2. What the display may show
Indoor units affected by a power or communication issue may display a red warning symbol on the touch panel.

3. Initial diagnostic questions
| Question | What it may indicate |
|---|---|
| Is the touch panel operating but the ECA is not? | Check the ECA power supply and its communication connection. |
| Is the touch panel frozen or unresponsive? | A controlled power reset may be required after checking the supply. |
| Are the controller, indoor units and outdoor units all unavailable? | This may indicate a broader power or communication fault. |
| When did the error first appear? | The timestamp may align with a power outage, isolation event or clock change. |
| Have the date, time, system mapping or unit names recently changed? | Recent configuration changes can create gaps or duplicate records in logged data. |
4. Site checks and common causes
| Potential cause | What to check | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Power isolation | Confirm whether power has been removed from any indoor unit. | Check breakers and local isolators, then restore power where safe to do so. |
| Tenant or building interference | Determine whether a tenant or contractor has switched off a breaker or isolator. | Re-establish a stable supply to every indoor unit included in the energy calculation. |
| Communication loss | Identify any indoor unit showing a red exclamation mark. | Inspect the relevant transmission wiring and confirm the unit itself is powered. |
| Controller time change | Check whether the controller date or time has been manually adjusted. | Correct the clock only where required and avoid repeated time changes during normal operation. |
| Configuration or mapping change | Review recent changes to system mapping, addresses or indoor unit names. | Confirm that every connected indoor unit is correctly mapped in the ECA configuration. |
5. Confirm whether the issue is local or network-related
At the affected indoor unit, check whether it can still be operated from its wired remote controller.
The local controller still works: the indoor unit may be operating normally, with the issue limited to data synchronisation or network communication.
The local controller does not work: investigate the indoor unit power supply, local fault condition and transmission wiring.

6. Recommended recovery sequence
| 1 | Confirm stable power to the touch panel, ECA, indoor units and outdoor units. |
| 2 | Restore power to any indoor unit that has been isolated or switched off. |
| 3 | Inspect transmission wiring and connections serving any group showing a red warning symbol. |
| 4 | Confirm the controller date and time are correct and that no recent mapping changes remain incomplete. |
| 5 | Allow time for the ECA to resynchronise once power and communication are stable. |
| 6 | If the error remains, carry out a controlled reboot of the ECA in accordance with the site procedure. |
Do not repeatedly power-cycle the system without first identifying the affected unit or network segment. Repeated interruptions can create further gaps in energy logging data.
7. Information required if the error persists
- Touch panel and ECA model and serial numbers.
- The date and time the error first appeared.
- Photos of the error list and the affected remote-controller groups.
- Confirmation of any recent power outage, isolation or configuration change.
- Details of whether the affected indoor units operate from their local wired controllers.
