ASTA24JCC / AOTR24JCC Operation Manual
1. Quick start
| Function | What to do |
|---|---|
| Start / stop | Press START/STOP. |
| Select mode | Press MODE to cycle through AUTO, COOL, DRY and FAN. |
| Set temperature | Use SET TEMP. AUTO and Cooling / Dry range: 18-30 °C. |
| Fan speed | Press FAN to select AUTO, HIGH, MED, LOW or QUIET. |
| Air direction | Use the vertical and horizontal SET buttons, or press SWING for automatic movement. |
2. Remote controller
The wireless remote controller operates the indoor unit from approximately 7 metres when pointed toward the signal receiver. A beep confirms that the indoor unit has received the command.
- START/STOP: starts or stops operation.
- MODE: AUTO / COOL / DRY / FAN.
- SET TEMP: adjusts the temperature setting.
- FAN: AUTO / HIGH / MED / LOW / QUIET.
- TIMER MODE / TIMER SET: ON, OFF and Program Timer settings.
- SLEEP: activates Sleep Timer operation.
- SET Vertical / Horizontal: adjusts airflow direction.
- SWING: selects up/down, left/right or combined swing.
3. Operating modes
| Mode | Operation |
|---|---|
| AUTO | The unit automatically selects Cooling, Dry or Monitor operation according to room conditions and the temperature setting. |
| COOL | Used to cool the room. Set the temperature below the current room temperature for cooling operation. |
| DRY | Provides gentle cooling while dehumidifying. Fan speed cannot be manually changed and the indoor fan may stop periodically. |
| FAN | Circulates room air without cooling. |
Super Quiet operation
Select QUIET fan speed to reduce indoor airflow and operating noise. Cooling performance is reduced somewhat while Super Quiet operation is active. Super Quiet cannot be used during Dry mode.
4. Timer operation
Before using timer functions, set the remote controller clock to the correct current time.
| Timer | Operation |
|---|---|
| ON timer | Starts the air conditioner at the selected time. |
| OFF timer | Stops the air conditioner at the selected time. |
| Program timer | Combines one ON and one OFF transition within a 24-hour period. |
| Sleep timer | Automatically raises the Cooling / Dry temperature setting by 1 °C each hour, up to a total increase of 2 °C, then switches the unit off when the selected time expires. |
5. Manual Auto operation
If the remote controller is lost or unavailable, use the indoor unit MANUAL AUTO button. The unit operates in AUTO mode with AUTO fan speed and a standard temperature setting of 24 °C.
6. Airflow direction and Swing
Vertical and horizontal airflow can be adjusted from the remote controller after the indoor unit has started and the louvers have stopped moving.
| Adjustment | Details |
|---|---|
| Vertical | Positions 1-3 are the normal range for Cooling / Dry. Positions 1-6 are available in Fan mode. |
| Horizontal | Five left/right airflow positions are available from the remote controller. |
| Swing | Select up/down, left/right, or combined up/down/left/right swing. Press SWING until STOP is selected to cancel. |
7. Cleaning and care
Stop the air conditioner and disconnect the power supply before cleaning.
- Clean the standard air filters approximately every 2 weeks during normal use.
- Remove dust with a vacuum cleaner or wash with mild detergent and warm water.
- Allow filters to dry thoroughly in a shaded place before refitting.
- Do not use water hotter than 40 °C, abrasive cleaners, benzene or thinner.
- If the unit will be unused for one month or longer, operate FAN mode for approximately half a day first to dry internal components.
Air cleaning filters
| Filter | Part number / maintenance |
|---|---|
| Polyphenol Catechin Air Cleaning Filter | UTR-FA13-1 - disposable. Replace approximately every 3 months. |
| Negative Air Ions Deodorizing Filter | UTR-FA13-2 - clean approximately every 3 months and replace approximately every 3 years. |
8. Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Check / explanation |
|---|---|
| Does not restart immediately | A protection delay of approximately 3 minutes may prevent compressor operation after stopping or reconnecting the power supply. |
| Water-flow or refrigerant noise | Refrigerant movement can be audible during operation and for a short period after starting or stopping. |
| Mist from indoor unit | A fine mist can occur during Cooling / Dry when room air is rapidly cooled. |
| Weak or stopped airflow | This may be normal during Dry mode, Super Quiet operation or AUTO monitor operation. |
| Does not operate | Check the power supply, fuse / circuit breaker and timer settings. |
| Poor cooling | Check filters, intake/outlet blockage, temperature setting, open doors/windows, direct sunlight, room heat loads and Super Quiet mode. |
| Remote control response is incorrect | Check battery condition and polarity. |
9. Operating limits and Auto Restart
| Operation | Outdoor temperature | Indoor temperature |
|---|---|---|
| Cooling | Approximately 18-46 °C | Approximately 18-32 °C |
| Dry | Approximately 18-46 °C | Approximately 18-32 °C |
If the unit is used for long periods in high humidity, approximately 80% or more, condensation may form on the indoor unit and drip. After a power interruption, the air conditioner automatically restarts in its previous operating mode when power is restored. A timer may need to be reset after an interruption.
