2. Remote controller

The wireless remote controller provides the following controls:

  • MASTER CONTROL – selects AUTO, COOL, DRY or FAN.
  • START/STOP – starts or stops the air conditioner.
  • SET TEMP. – raises or lowers the temperature setting.
  • FAN CONTROL – selects AUTO, HIGH, MED, LOW or QUIET.
  • SET – changes vertical airflow direction.
  • SWING – starts or stops automatic vertical louvre swing.
  • TIMER MODE / TIMER SET – controls ON, OFF and PROGRAM timers.
  • SLEEP – sets the sleep timer.
  • CLOCK ADJUST – sets the current time.
  • RESET – resets the remote controller after battery replacement.
TEST RUN button: This is intended for installation/service use only and should not be used during normal operation.

Replacing remote-control batteries

  1. Open the battery compartment on the rear of the remote.
  2. Install two AAA / R03 / LR03 batteries, observing polarity.
  3. Close the cover.
  4. Press RESET with a small pointed object if required.
  5. Set the current time using CLOCK ADJUST and the TIMER SET buttons.

3. Normal operation

  1. Press START/STOP. The green OPERATION lamp will illuminate.
  2. Press MASTER CONTROL to select AUTO, COOL, DRY or FAN.
  3. Use SET TEMP. to select the required temperature in AUTO, COOL or DRY.
  4. Use FAN CONTROL to select the required fan speed.
  5. Press START/STOP again to stop operation.

Mode behaviour

ModeOperation
AUTOThe unit assesses room conditions and automatically selects cooling, dry or monitor operation.
COOLUse to cool the room. Set the temperature below the current room temperature.
DRYProvides gentle cooling while dehumidifying. Fan speed is controlled automatically and cannot be manually changed.
FANCirculates room air without cooling. Temperature setting is not available.

Super Quiet operation

Select QUIET with the FAN CONTROL button. The yellow SUPER QUIET lamp will illuminate and indoor airflow will be reduced for quieter operation. Cooling performance is reduced somewhat in this mode. SUPER QUIET cannot be used in DRY mode.

4. Timer operation

Before using a timer, ensure the remote controller clock is set correctly.

ON or OFF timer

  1. Press START/STOP if the unit is not already operating.
  2. Press TIMER MODE until ON or OFF is selected.
  3. Use the TIMER SET buttons to select the required time.

Program timer

The PROGRAM timer combines one ON timer and one OFF timer within a 24-hour period. Set the ON and OFF times first, then select PROGRAM using TIMER MODE. The timer closest to the current time operates first.

Sleep timer

The SLEEP timer sets the length of time until the unit switches off. During COOL or DRY operation, the temperature setting is raised by 1 °C each hour up to a total increase of 2 °C, then maintained until the selected sleep time expires.

5. Airflow direction and swing

Use the SET button on the remote controller to adjust vertical airflow. Do not manually force the vertical airflow louvres.

  • Cooling/Dry: use positions 1, 2 or 3.
  • Fan: positions 1 through 6 can be used.
  • During Cooling or Dry, the unit will automatically return the louvres to position 3 if they are left in positions 4–6 for more than approximately 30 minutes.
  • Right/left airflow is adjusted manually only after the unit has stopped and the vertical louvres are stationary.

Swing operation

Press SWING to start automatic up/down louvre movement. Press SWING again to stop. In Cooling/Dry, swing is between positions 1 and 3. In Fan mode the range depends on the current airflow setting.

6. Manual Auto operation

If the remote controller is unavailable, press the MANUAL AUTO button on the indoor unit for approximately three seconds. The system operates in AUTO with AUTO fan speed and a standard 24 °C temperature setting. Press MANUAL AUTO again for approximately three seconds to stop.

Important: Holding the MANUAL AUTO button for more than 10 seconds starts forced cooling, which is intended for authorised service personnel during installation.

7. Cleaning and care

Before cleaning: Stop the air conditioner and disconnect the power supply. Do not touch the heat exchanger fins when removing or reinstalling filters.

Air filters

  1. Open the intake grille.
  2. Lift the filter handle, release the lower tabs and remove the filter.
  3. Vacuum the filter or wash it in warm water with neutral detergent.
  4. Allow it to dry completely in a shaded area.
  5. Refit the filter and close the intake grille securely.

During normal use, clean the air filters approximately every two weeks. Dirty filters reduce airflow, lower operating efficiency and can increase noise.

Optional air-cleaning filters

FilterPart number / maintenance
Polyphenol Catechin Air Cleaning FilterUTR-FA16. Disposable; generally replace about every three months.
Negative Air Ions Deodorizing FilterUTR-FA16-2. Generally replace about every three years; clean approximately every three months as described in the manual.

8. Troubleshooting

SymptomCheck / explanation
Does not restart immediatelyA protection delay of approximately three minutes can occur after stopping/restarting or restoring power.
Water-flow or refrigerant noiseRefrigerant-flow sounds may be heard during operation and for a short period after starting or stopping.
Mist from indoor unitCan occur in Cooling or Dry when room air is rapidly cooled and condensation forms.
Weak airflowCan be normal in DRY, SUPER QUIET or AUTO monitor operation.
Does not operateCheck the power supply, breaker/fuse and timer settings.
Poor coolingCheck filters, blocked intake/outlet, set temperature, open doors/windows, direct sunlight, internal heat loads and SUPER QUIET operation.
Remote does not control correctlyCheck battery condition, battery polarity and that the remote is aimed at the receiver within operating range.
Arrange service if: The problem continues after the checks above, a burning smell is present, or the OPERATION and TIMER indicator lamps flash. Stop operation and isolate the electrical supply.

9. Operating limits and useful notes

  • Cooling: outdoor temperature approximately 18–46 °C; indoor temperature approximately 18–32 °C.
  • Dry: outdoor temperature approximately 18–46 °C; indoor temperature approximately 18–32 °C.
  • At indoor humidity around 80% or higher for long periods, condensation may form on the indoor unit.
  • If power is interrupted, the unit automatically restarts in its previous operating mode when power is restored.
  • If a power interruption occurs during timer operation, the timer may need to be reset.
  • This model is intended for cooling, dehumidifying and room-air circulation.
