Wall Mounted Reverse Cycle Air Conditioner
Operating guide, timer functions, airflow control, cleaning and troubleshooting
This article provides a practical overview of the operating instructions for the ASTG30LFCC indoor unit matched with the AOTG30LFTC outdoor unit. The applicable operating manual is P/N 9315345387.

Safety: Installation, repair and servicing must be carried out by qualified personnel. If there is a burning smell, refrigerant leak or other malfunction, stop operation, switch off the electrical breaker and contact authorised service personnel.

1. Basic operation

Start the air conditioner

  1. Press the START/STOP button on the wireless remote controller.
  2. Press MODE to select the required operating mode.
  3. Use the SET TEMP. buttons to adjust the temperature.
  4. Press FAN to select the fan speed.

In FAN mode the thermostat cannot be used to control room temperature. In DRY mode the fan speed cannot be changed manually.

AUTO mode

When AUTO is selected, the unit assesses room conditions and automatically selects cooling, dry, heating or monitor operation. When the room temperature is close to the thermostat setting, the unit enters monitor operation at low fan speed.

Heating operation

At the start of heating, the indoor fan may operate at very low speed for approximately 3 to 5 minutes while the indoor unit warms up. Heating may also pause during automatic defrost operation.

Super Quiet

Select QUIET with the FAN button to reduce indoor airflow and operating sound. Cooling and heating performance may be reduced while Super Quiet operation is active.

2. Timer operation

Set the remote controller clock to the correct current time before using any timer functions.

Sleep Timer temperature adjustment

  • Heating: the set temperature is lowered 1°C every 30 minutes, to a maximum reduction of 4°C.
  • Cooling / Dry: the set temperature is raised 1°C every hour, to a maximum increase of 2°C.

To cancel a timer, use the TIMER MODE button to select CANCEL.

3. Airflow direction and Swing

Vertical airflow

Press the SET (Vertical) button to adjust the up/down airflow direction. Six vertical positions are available.

  • Cooling / Dry starts with horizontal airflow at position 1.
  • Heating starts with downward airflow at position 5.
  • At the beginning of AUTO operation and during automatic defrost, airflow may temporarily move to horizontal position 1.

Horizontal airflow

Press the SET (Horizontal) button to adjust the right/left airflow direction. Five horizontal positions are available.

Swing operation

Press the SWING button to cycle through the available swing modes:

  • Up/down swing
  • Left/right swing
  • Up/down and left/right swing
  • Swing stopped
Important: Always use the remote controller to adjust vertical airflow. During Cooling or Dry operation, leaving the airflow louvers in a downward heating position for an extended period may cause condensation and water droplets at the outlet.

4. Useful functions

10°C Heat

Press the 10°C HEAT button to help prevent the room temperature from falling too far. The ECONOMY indicator lamp illuminates while this function is active.

While 10°C Heat is active, only the Vertical and Horizontal SET airflow controls can be used. Heating will not operate if the room temperature is already high enough.

Economy operation

Press ECONOMY during normal operation to reduce energy use. At maximum output, Economy operation is approximately 70% of normal air conditioner output for cooling and heating.

Manual Auto operation

If the wireless remote controller is unavailable, press the indoor unit MANUAL AUTO button for more than 3 seconds but less than 10 seconds. The system will operate in AUTO mode with AUTO fan speed and a standard thermostat setting of 24°C.

Remote controller signal code

Where two or more air conditioners are installed in the same room, individual signal codes can be used to prevent one remote from operating the wrong system. Four signal codes are available. The air conditioner is set to signal code A before shipment.

If the remote controller batteries are replaced, the remote resets to signal code A. If a different signal code is being used, it must be selected again after battery replacement.

5. Cleaning and care

  1. Stop the air conditioner and switch off the electrical supply.
  2. Open the intake grille and remove the air filters.
  3. Remove dust with a vacuum cleaner, or wash the filters using mild detergent and warm water.
  4. Allow washed filters to dry thoroughly in a shaded location.
  5. Refit the filters and securely close the intake grille.

Under normal use, the air filters should be cleaned approximately every two weeks.

Filter indicator reset

Where the filter indicator function has been enabled during installation, clean the filters when indicated and then press the indoor unit MANUAL AUTO button for 2 seconds or less to reset the indicator.

6. Troubleshooting

Does not start immediatelyA protection delay of about 3 minutes may occur after stopping/restarting the unit or restoring power.
Noise is heardRefrigerant flow, panel expansion/contraction and occasional sizzling during defrost may be normal operating sounds.
Mist from indoor unitA fine mist may appear during Cooling or Dry operation due to rapid cooling and condensation of room air.
Weak airflow in heatingThe fan may operate at very low speed while the indoor unit warms up, or when room temperature is above the thermostat setting.
Heating stops temporarilyAutomatic defrost may temporarily stop heating for up to approximately 15 minutes. The OPERATION indicator lamp flashes.
Water from outdoor unit in heatingThis can occur during automatic defrost operation and is normal.
Poor cooling or heatingCheck the air filters, intake/outlet obstruction, thermostat setting, open doors/windows, direct sunlight and whether SUPER QUIET mode is active.
Remote control response differsCheck that the remote controller batteries are correctly installed, are not flat and that the correct signal code is selected.
If the problem continues after the basic checks, or if the OPERATION and TIMER lamps flash and the ECONOMY lamp flashes rapidly, stop the system, switch off the electrical breaker and contact authorised service personnel.

7. Operating notes

  • Heating performance will reduce as outdoor air temperature falls.
  • Automatic defrost may occur in low outdoor temperature and high humidity conditions.
  • After a power interruption, the air conditioner automatically restarts in its previous operating mode when power is restored.
  • If a power interruption occurs during timer operation, the timer is reset and may need to be set again.
  • On multi-type installations, indoor units cannot simultaneously operate in conflicting heating and cooling modes.
