Operating Modes
AUTO
When AUTO is selected, the system initially monitors room conditions and automatically selects the appropriate operating mode. Once the room approaches the set temperature, the unit enters monitor operation at low fan speed.
HEAT
Heating mode is used to warm the room. At startup, the indoor fan may run at very low speed for approximately 3 to 5 minutes while the indoor unit warms up.
COOL
Cooling mode is used to cool the room. Set the thermostat lower than the current room temperature.
DRY
Dry mode gently cools while dehumidifying. Fan speed cannot be manually changed and the fan may stop periodically while humidity is controlled.
FAN
Fan mode circulates room air only and does not provide heating or cooling.
10°C Heat Operation
Press the 10°C HEAT button to maintain the room temperature at approximately 10°C.
- The function is intended to prevent the room temperature falling too low.
- Heating will not operate if the room temperature is already high enough.
- To stop 10°C Heat, press START/STOP.
- While 10°C Heat is active, only airflow-direction adjustment can be used.
Economy Operation
Press ECONOMY while the air conditioner is running.
- At maximum output, Economy operation is approximately 70% of normal output for cooling and heating on a single-type system.
- In cooling, the room temperature may operate slightly above the set temperature.
- In heating, the room temperature may operate slightly below the set temperature.
- If comfort is insufficient, return to normal operation.
Timer Operation
ON / OFF Timer
- Press TIMER MODE to select OFF or ON timer.
- Use the TIMER SET buttons to select the required time.
- To cancel, select CANCEL with TIMER MODE.
Program Timer
The Program Timer combines one OFF event and one ON event in a single sequence within a 24-hour period.
Sleep Timer
The Sleep Timer automatically changes the thermostat setting to reduce excessive heating or cooling before switching the unit off.
| Mode | Sleep Timer Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Cooling / Dry | Set temperature rises 1°C every 60 minutes, up to a total increase of 2°C. |
| Heating | Set temperature lowers 1°C every 30 minutes, up to a total reduction of 4°C. |
Airflow Direction & Swing
Vertical airflow is adjusted with the SET button. Horizontal airflow is adjusted manually using the right-left louvres after the unit has stopped.
| Mode | Recommended Vertical Positions |
|---|---|
| Cooling / Dry | Positions 1-3 |
| Heating | Positions 4-6 |
Press SWING to automatically move the vertical louvres. Swing range is approximately:
- Cooling / Dry: positions 1 to 3
- Heating: positions 3 to 6
Manual Auto Operation
If the remote controller is lost or unavailable, press the MANUAL AUTO button on the indoor unit for approximately 3 seconds.
- The unit operates in an AUTO-type mode.
- Fan speed is AUTO.
- Standard thermostat setting is approximately 24°C.
- Press MANUAL AUTO again for approximately 3 seconds to stop.
Cleaning & Care
Air Filters
- Clean approximately every 2 weeks during normal use.
- Vacuum the filters or wash using warm water and neutral detergent.
- Dry thoroughly in the shade before reinstalling.
Air Cleaning Filter
| Replacement filter | UTR-FA16-3 |
| Recommended cleaning | Approximately every 6 months |
| Recommended replacement | Approximately every 3 years |
Automatic Defrost - Heating
When outdoor temperature is low and humidity is high, frost can form on the outdoor unit. The system automatically enters defrost to remove the frost.
- Defrost typically lasts approximately 7 to 15 minutes.
- Heating temporarily stops during defrost.
- The OPERATION indicator flashes.
- The DEFROST indicator lights.
- Steam or water from the outdoor unit during defrost is normal.
Normal Operating Characteristics
| Symptom | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Does not restart immediately | Compressor protection may prevent restart for approximately 3 minutes. |
| Refrigerant-flow noise | Can be heard during operation or for 2-3 minutes after startup. |
| Squeaking noise | Caused by expansion and contraction of the front panel. |
| Mist in cooling | Can occur from sudden cooling and condensation. |
| Steam / water outdoors in heating | Normal during Automatic Defrosting. |
| Weak airflow in heating | May occur during warm-up, thermostat-off or defrost operation. |
Troubleshooting
Unit Does Not Operate
- Check the circuit breaker.
- Check for a power failure.
- Check whether a fuse has blown or breaker has tripped.
- Check whether a timer is controlling the unit.
Poor Cooling or Heating
- Check whether the air filter is dirty.
- Ensure the intake grille and outlet are not blocked.
- Confirm the temperature setting is appropriate.
- Close open doors and windows.
- Reduce direct sunlight during cooling.
- Consider internal heat sources and room occupancy.
- Check whether QUIET mode is active.
Remote Controller Does Not Respond Correctly
- Check whether the batteries are flat.
- Confirm the batteries are installed correctly.
- Point the remote controller directly at the indoor unit receiver.
Multi-System Operating Notes
If the indoor unit is connected to a multi-type outdoor unit, multiple indoor units may operate at the same time, subject to mode compatibility.
Compatible simultaneous modes include:
- Cooling + Dry
- Cooling + Fan
- Dry + Fan
Conflicting modes include:
- Heating + Cooling / Dry
- Heating + Fan
Where conflicting modes are selected, the later indoor unit may enter standby and its OPERATION indicator will flash.
Auto Restart After Power Failure
If power is interrupted, the air conditioner restarts automatically in its previous operating mode when power is restored.
If power is interrupted while a timer is active, the timer may reset and the TIMER indicator may flash.
