Refrigerant Safety: This air conditioner contains R410A refrigerant and must only be installed or serviced by qualified personnel.

Basic Operation

  1. Press START/STOP.
  2. Press MODEto select:
    • AUTO
    • COOL
    • DRY
    • FAN
  3. Use the SET TEMP buttons to set the required temperature.

The temperature setting range is 18-30°C in AUTO, COOL and DRY modes. Temperature control is not available in FAN mode.

AUTO Mode

In AUTO mode, the unit automatically selects between COOL, DRY and Monitor operation to maintain the set temperature.

  • If room temperature is above the defined set temperature, the unit selects COOL or DRY.
  • When room temperature approaches or falls below the set temperature, the unit enters Monitor operation.
  • During Monitor operation, the fan runs at low speed.

Fan Speed

Press the FAN button to cycle through:

  • AUTO
  • HIGH
  • MED
  • LOW
  • QUIET

During SUPER QUIET operation, airflow is reduced to provide quieter operation. Cooling performance may also be reduced.

Vertical and Horizontal Airflow Direction

Vertical Airflow

  • Press the Vertical SET button to adjust vertical airflow.
  • The vertical louvre has 6 positions.
  • Recommended COOL / DRY positions are 1-3.
  • If positions 4-6 are used for more than approximately 20 minutes during COOL or DRY, the louvre automatically returns to position 3.

Horizontal Airflow

  • Press the Horizontal SET button to adjust horizontal airflow.
  • The horizontal louvre has 5 positions.

Swing Operation

Press SWING to cycle through:

  • Up / down swing
  • Left / right swing
  • Up / down + left / right swing
  • Stop swing
Condensation caution: Do not leave the vertical louvre in positions 4-6 for long periods during COOL or DRY operation, as condensation may form and water may drip from the unit.

ECONOMY Operation

Press ECONOMY to reduce energy consumption.

  • In COOL mode, room temperature is controlled slightly higher than the set temperature.
  • Maximum ECONOMY output is approximately 70% of normal air-conditioner operation.
  • If the room does not cool sufficiently in ECONOMY mode, return to normal operation.

Manual Operation Without the Remote

If the remote controller is unavailable, use the indoor-unit MANUAL AUTO button.

ActionResult
Press more than 3 seconds and less than 10 secondsAUTO operation
Press once while operatingStops operation
Press more than 10 secondsForced cooling - servicing only

When MANUAL AUTO is used, the unit operates in AUTO mode with AUTO fan speed and a standard thermostat setting of 24°C.

Timer Functions

ON / OFF Timer

  1. Press START/STOP if the unit is not already operating.
  2. Press TIMER MODE to select OFF or ON timer.
  3. Use the TIMER SET buttons to select the required time.

Program Timer

The Program Timer combines an OFF timer and ON timer in one sequence within a 24-hour period.

  • OFF → ON
  • ON → OFF

Sleep Timer

The Sleep Timer automatically raises the set temperature during COOL / DRY operation to reduce excessive cooling while sleeping.

  • The set temperature increases by approximately 1°C every hour.
  • After a total increase of 2°C, the temperature is maintained until the timer expires.
  • The air conditioner then switches off automatically.
Timer Reminder
Set the remote controller clock correctly before using the timer functions.

Optional Wired Remote Controller

An optional wired remote controller can be used. The manual notes that wired and wireless controllers may be used simultaneously, but some wireless functions become restricted.

Additional wired-controller functions:

  • Weekly Timer
  • Temperature Set Back Timer

Restricted wireless functions when a wired controller is used:

  • ON Timer
  • OFF Timer
  • Program Timer
  • Sleep Timer

Remote Controller Setup

  • Uses 2 x AAA / R03 / LR03 batteries.
  • Typical battery life is approximately 1 year.
  • Remote operating range is approximately 7 m.
  • A beep confirms that the indoor unit has received the remote signal.

Remote Controller Signal Code

Where two or more air conditioners are installed in the same room, the remote signal code can be changed so each remote operates only the intended unit.

  1. Press START/STOP until only the clock is displayed.
  2. Press and hold MODE for at least 5 seconds.
  3. Use the temperature buttons to select the required signal code.
  4. Press MODE again to return to the clock display.

The air conditioner is factory-set to signal code A. Replacing the remote batteries resets the controller to code A.

Filter Cleaning

Clean the air filters approximately every 2 weeks during normal use.

  1. Open the intake grille.
  2. Remove the air filters.
  3. Vacuum or wash using mild detergent and warm water.
  4. Allow the filters to dry completely in a shaded location.
  5. Refit the filters and close the intake grille securely.

If the unit will not be used for a month or longer, run FAN mode for approximately half a day first to dry the internal components.

Air Cleaning Filters

FilterPart NumberMaintenance
Polyphenol Catechin Air Cleaning FilterUTR-FA13-1Disposable. Replace approximately every 3 months.
Negative Air Ions Deodorizing FilterUTR-FA13-2Clean approximately every 3 months; replace approximately every 3 years.

Normal Operating Characteristics

The following may be normal and do not necessarily indicate a fault:

  • Approximately 3-minute compressor delay after restarting or restoring power.
  • Refrigerant-flow noise for approximately 2-3 minutes after startup.
  • Slight squeaking caused by expansion and contraction of the front panel.
  • Mist during COOL or DRY operation.
  • Very low or stopped airflow during DRY or AUTO Monitor operation.
  • Reduced airflow in SUPER QUIET mode.

Troubleshooting

Unit Does Not Operate

  • Check whether the circuit breaker is off.
  • Check for a power failure.
  • Check whether a fuse has blown or breaker has tripped.
  • Check whether a timer is active.

Poor Cooling

  • Clean dirty filters.
  • Check that the intake grille and outlet are not blocked.
  • Confirm the thermostat setting is appropriate.
  • Close open windows and doors.
  • Reduce strong sunlight where possible.
  • Check for high internal heat loads.
  • Check whether SUPER QUIET mode is active.

Remote Controller Operates Incorrectly

  • Check whether the batteries are flat.
  • Confirm the batteries are installed with the correct polarity.
  • Check the remote signal code if multiple systems are installed nearby.

Auto Restart

If power is interrupted, the air conditioner automatically restarts in the previous operating mode when power is restored.

If the interruption occurs while a timer is operating, the timer may reset and the TIMER indicator may flash.

Stop operation and isolate power immediately if:
  • There is a burning smell or other abnormal condition.
  • The problem remains after the basic troubleshooting checks.
  • The OPERATION and TIMER indicators flash and the ECONOMY indicator flashes rapidly.
