ASTG24JFCC / AOTG24JFCC Operation Manual

Wall Mounted Inverter Air Conditioner
Operating guidance, remote control functions, timers, airflow adjustment, cleaning and basic troubleshooting.
Applies to: ASTG24JF series wall-mounted indoor units covered by Operating Manual Part No. 9315345509. The manual describes a cooling-only inverter system using R410A refrigerant.
Safety: Installation, maintenance and servicing must only be carried out by qualified personnel. If there is a burning smell or other malfunction, stop operation, switch off the electrical breaker and contact authorised service personnel.

1. Quick start

FunctionWhat to do
Start / stopPress START/STOP.
Select modePress MODE to cycle through AUTO, COOL, DRY and FAN.
Set temperatureUse SET TEMP. AUTO / COOL / DRY range: 18–30 °C.
Fan speedPress FAN to select AUTO, HIGH, MED, LOW or QUIET.
EconomyPress ECONOMY to reduce power consumption. Maximum output is approximately 70% of normal operation on a single-type system.

2. Remote controller

The wireless remote controller operates the unit from approximately 7 metres when pointed toward the indoor-unit signal receiver. A beep confirms that the signal has been received.

  • MODE: AUTO / COOL / DRY / FAN.
  • FAN: AUTO / HIGH / MED / LOW / QUIET.
  • SET TEMP: changes the thermostat setting.
  • SET (Vertical): adjusts up/down airflow direction.
  • SET (Horizontal): adjusts left/right airflow direction.
  • SWING: selects up/down, left/right or combined swing.
  • ECONOMY: enables energy-saving operation.
  • SLEEP: sets a timed shutdown with gradual temperature adjustment.
Remote batteries: Use two AAA / R03 / LR03 batteries. If the operating range becomes noticeably shorter, replace the batteries and press the RESET button with a small pointed object.

3. Timer operation

Before using timer functions, set the remote controller clock to the correct current time.

TimerOperation
ON timerStarts the air conditioner at the selected time.
OFF timerStops the air conditioner at the selected time.
PROGRAM timerCombines one ON and one OFF timer transition within a 24-hour period.
SLEEP timerDuring Cooling / Dry, the thermostat is raised 1 °C each hour until it has risen by 2 °C, then maintained until the selected stop time.

4. Airflow direction and swing

Adjust airflow using the remote controller only after the indoor unit has started and the airflow louvers have stopped moving.

  • Vertical airflow: positions 1–3 are used during Cooling / Dry; positions 1–6 are available during Fan mode.
  • Horizontal airflow: five left/right positions are available.
  • Swing: can operate vertically, horizontally, or in both directions together.
  • In Cooling / Dry, do not leave the vertical louvers in positions 4–6 for long periods because condensation may form. If left there for more than approximately 20 minutes, the louvers automatically return to position 3.
Do not move the vertical airflow louvers by hand. Use the remote controller SET button. Never insert fingers or foreign objects into the air outlet.

5. Manual Auto operation

If the remote controller is lost or unavailable, press the indoor unit MANUAL AUTO button for more than 3 seconds but less than 10 seconds. The system operates in AUTO mode with AUTO fan speed and a standard thermostat setting of 24 °C.

Important: Holding MANUAL AUTO for more than 10 seconds starts forced cooling operation intended for authorised service personnel.

6. Cleaning and care

Turn the air conditioner off and disconnect the power supply before cleaning.

  • Clean the standard air filters approximately every 2 weeks during normal use.
  • Remove dust with a vacuum cleaner or wash the filter with mild detergent and warm water.
  • Allow filters to dry completely in a shaded place before refitting.
  • Do not use water hotter than 40 °C, abrasive cleaners, benzene or thinner on the indoor unit.
  • If the unit will be shut down for one month or longer, operate Fan mode for approximately half a day first to dry the internal components.

Optional air-cleaning filters

FilterPart number / maintenance
Polyphenol Catechin Air Cleaning FilterUTR-FA13-1 — disposable; generally replace about every 3 months.
Negative Air Ions Deodorizing FilterUTR-FA13-2 — clean approximately every 3 months and replace about every 3 years to maintain deodorising performance.

7. Remote controller signal code

If two or more compatible air conditioners are installed in the same room, the remote controller can be assigned to one of four signal codes. The indoor unit must first be configured for the corresponding code by the installer or service technician.

  1. Press START/STOP until only the clock is displayed.
  2. Hold MODE for at least 5 seconds to display the current signal code.
  3. Use the temperature buttons to select the code that matches the indoor unit.
  4. Press MODE again to return to the clock display.

The remote controller returns to signal code A when its batteries are replaced.

8. Troubleshooting

SymptomCheck / explanation
Does not restart immediatelyA protection delay of approximately 3 minutes may prevent compressor operation after stopping or restoring power.
Water-flow or refrigerant noiseRefrigerant movement can be audible during operation and for a short period after starting or stopping.
Mist from indoor unitA fine mist can occur during Cooling / Dry when room air is rapidly cooled.
Weak or stopped airflowThis can be normal in Dry mode, SUPER QUIET mode or during AUTO monitor operation.
Does not operateCheck the circuit breaker, power supply, fuse / breaker status and whether a timer is active.
Poor coolingCheck for dirty filters, blocked intake/outlet, incorrect set temperature, open doors/windows, strong sunlight, heat loads or SUPER QUIET operation.
Remote control response is incorrectCheck battery condition and battery polarity.

9. Power interruption / Auto Restart

After a power interruption, the air conditioner automatically restarts in its previous operating mode when power is restored. If the interruption occurs during timer operation, the timer is reset and the TIMER indicator may flash.
