Wall Mounted R32 Air Conditioner - User Operation Guide
This article summarises the main operating instructions for the ASTG12CMCA wall-mounted indoor unit, including remote-controller functions, timers, Human Sensor operation, Demand Response, cleaning and basic troubleshooting.
R32 refrigerant: This system uses flammable refrigerant R32. Installation, servicing and refrigerant work must only be completed by suitably qualified personnel.

Quick Start

  1. Press START/STOP.
  2. Press MODE to select AUTO, COOL, DRY or FAN.
  3. Use the TEMP buttons to set the required temperature.
Temperature setting range18-30°C in AUTO / COOL / DRY
Fan speedsAUTO / HIGH / MED / LOW / QUIET
Remote-control rangeApproximately 7 m

Remote Controller Functions

Button / FunctionWhat It Does
START/STOPStarts or stops the air conditioner.
MODESelects AUTO, COOL, DRY or FAN.
TEMPAdjusts the set temperature.
FANSelects AUTO, HIGH, MED, LOW or QUIET fan speed.
SETAdjusts vertical airflow direction.
SWINGStarts or stops vertical louvre swing.
POWERFULRuns at maximum output and strong airflow for rapid cooling.
ECONOMYReduces energy use by moderating operation.
OUTDOOR UNIT LOW NOISEReduces outdoor compressor speed and fan speed to lower noise.
SENSORTurns the Human Sensor Energy Saving program on or off.
POWERFUL operation: It automatically ends when the room reaches the set temperature or after approximately 20 minutes. It cannot operate at the same time as ECONOMY.

Manual Auto Button

If the remote controller is unavailable, the indoor unit's MANUAL AUTO button can be used.

Timer Functions

ON / OFF Timer

  1. Press TIMER SETTING.
  2. Use SELECT to choose ON, OFF, ON-OFF program or SLEEP.
  3. Press NEXT.
  4. Set the required time with SELECT.
  5. Press SEND while close to the indoor unit.

Weekly Timer

  • Up to 4 ON/OFF programs per day.
  • Up to 28 programs per week.
  • The day and clock must be set correctly before using the Weekly Timer.
  • Weekly Timer cannot be used simultaneously with the other timer modes.
After a power interruption: The internal clock may become incorrect and the TIMER indicator may blink. Reset the clock and timer settings.

Human Sensor - Energy Saving

The Human Sensor Energy Saving function is enabled by default.

If no person is detected for approximately 20 minutes, the system automatically adjusts the temperature to reduce energy use. When movement is detected again, the original setting is restored.

Operating ModeWhen Room is Unoccupied
COOL / DRYSet temperature may increase by up to approximately 2°C.
AUTOEnergy Saving operates automatically for the selected cooling/drying mode.

The sensor detection range is approximately 7 m, with a vertical angle of approximately 90° and a horizontal angle of approximately 100°.

Sensor limitations: Detection may be affected if people remain still, are hidden behind furniture, wear very thick clothing, or when moving pets, curtains, fans or heating appliances are within the detection area.

Demand Response

The unit is compatible with an Air Conditioning Demand Response program where supported by the electricity supplier.

DR ModeOperation
DR 1Compressor OFF.
DR 2Cooling continues, but electrical energy consumption is limited to no more than 50% of rated-capacity energy use over a half-hour period.
DR 3Cooling continues, but electrical energy consumption is limited to no more than 75% of rated-capacity energy use over a half-hour period.

During Demand Response, the green OPERATION indicator blinks. Cooling performance may be reduced and the restriction cannot be overridden with the remote controller while the DR event remains active.

Operating Range

COOL / DRY indoor temperatureApproximately 18-32°C
Indoor humidityBelow approximately 80% RH

Care and Cleaning

Before cleaning: Stop the indoor unit and disconnect the power supply.

Air Filters

  • Clean approximately once every 2 weeks under normal use.
  • Vacuum the filters or wash them using warm water and neutral household detergent.
  • Allow filters to dry completely in a shaded area before reinstalling.

Optional Air Cleaning Filters

FilterPart NumberMaintenance
Apple-catechin filterUTR-FA16Disposable. Replace approximately every 3 months.
Ion deodorization filterUTR-FA16-2Clean approximately every 3 months; replace approximately every 3 years.

Normal Operating Characteristics

SymptomExplanation
Delay after restartThe compressor may remain stopped for about 3 minutes after a sudden OFF-ON restart to protect the system.
Refrigerant-flow noiseRefrigerant sounds can occur during operation or for 2-3 minutes after startup.
Slight squeakingExpansion and contraction of the front panel as temperature changes.
Mist in COOL / DRYMay occur due to condensation during rapid cooling.
Weak or stopped airflowCan be normal in DRY, QUIET or AUTO monitoring operation.

Troubleshooting

Unit Does Not Operate

  • Check the circuit breaker.
  • Check for a power outage.
  • Check whether a fuse has blown or breaker has tripped.
  • Check whether a timer is controlling the unit.

Poor Cooling

  • Check and clean the air filters.
  • Ensure the intake grille and outlet are not blocked.
  • Confirm the temperature setting is appropriate.
  • Close open windows and doors.
  • Consider direct sunlight, other heat sources, computers or high room occupancy.
  • Check whether fan speed is set to QUIET.
  • Check whether OUTDOOR UNIT LOW NOISE is enabled.
  • Check whether Demand Response is active.

Remote Controller Does Not Behave as Expected

  • Check the remote-controller batteries.
  • Confirm the batteries are installed correctly.
  • Aim the remote controller directly at the indoor receiver and remain within approximately 7 m.
Stop operation and isolate power immediately if there is a burning smell, smoke, water leakage, or if the OPERATION and TIMER indicators blink while the ECONOMY indicator is flashing rapidly. Contact authorised service personnel.
