ASTG09CMCB / AOTG09CMCB - Operation Guide
This article summarises the main operating instructions for the ASTG09CMCB wall-mounted indoor unit. The source operating manual also covers ASTG07CMCB and ASTG12CMCB.
Quick Start
- Press START/STOP.
- Press MODE to select AUTO, COOL, DRY or FAN.
- Use the TEMP buttons to set the required temperature.

Indoor Unit Controls
The indoor unit includes a MANUAL AUTO button for use if the wireless remote controller is lost or unavailable.

Airflow Direction
- Use the SET button to adjust vertical airflow direction.
- Use SWING to start or stop automatic vertical swing.
- Horizontal airflow direction is adjusted manually using the two louver knobs.
- Do not manually force the vertical airflow louver.
Powerful Operation
Press POWERFUL to temporarily operate the system at maximum output and strong airflow for rapid cooling.
- Automatically ends when the set temperature is reached or approximately 20 minutes have elapsed.
- Airflow direction and fan speed are automatically controlled.
- POWERFUL cannot operate at the same time as ECONOMY.
- POWERFUL overrides Outdoor Unit Low Noise and Energy Saving while active.
Economy Operation
Press ECONOMY to reduce power consumption by moderating the temperature setting.
- In COOL or DRY, the controlled room temperature is allowed to rise slightly above the set temperature.
- Maximum output is approximately 70% of normal operation in COOL or DRY.
Outdoor Unit Low Noise
Press OUTDOOR UNIT LOW NOISE to reduce outdoor-unit noise by limiting compressor speed and outdoor fan speed.
- The setting remains stored until the button is pressed again.
- It cannot be used at the same time as FAN, DRY or POWERFUL operation.
Timer Functions
The wireless remote provides:
- ON Timer
- OFF Timer
- Program Timer - combined ON/OFF or OFF/ON operation
- SLEEP Timer
- WEEKLY Timer
Weekly Timer
The WEEKLY timer allows up to 4 ON/OFF programs per day and up to 28 programs per week.
- Set the correct day and time before programming the WEEKLY timer.
- Each ON event can include a temperature setting.
- The WEEKLY timer cannot be used simultaneously with ON/OFF, Program or SLEEP timers.
- After a power interruption, check and reset the clock and timer if required.
Remote Controller Custom Code
Where multiple air conditioners are installed in the same room, the wireless remote controller can be assigned one of four custom codes: A, B, C or D.
- Press START/STOP until only the clock is displayed.
- Hold MODE for at least 5 seconds.
- Use the temperature buttons to select A, B, C or D.
- Press MODE again to save and return to the clock display.
Human Sensor - Energy Saving
The human sensor detects movement in the room and can automatically adjust operation when the room appears unoccupied.
- The Energy Saving program is ON from the factory.
- Press the SENSOR button to enable or disable the function.
- If no person is detected for approximately 20 minutes, the temperature setting is adjusted automatically.
- In COOL / DRY, the set temperature can be increased by up to approximately 2°C.
- When a person returns, the original settings are automatically restored.
Demand Response
The system supports Air Conditioning Demand Response where an arrangement exists with the electricity supplier.

Care and Cleaning
- Clean the standard air filters approximately once every 2 weeks under normal use.
- Use a vacuum cleaner or wash with warm water and neutral household detergent.
- Allow filters to dry thoroughly in the shade before reinstalling.
- Do not use water hotter than 40°C, abrasive cleaners, benzene or thinner on the indoor unit.

Normal Operating Characteristics
The following may occur during normal operation and do not necessarily indicate a fault:
- Approximately 3-minute compressor delay after power is cycled.
- Refrigerant-flow noises, particularly shortly after starting or stopping.
- Minor panel expansion / contraction noises.
- Mist during COOL or DRY due to rapid cooling and condensation.
- Low or intermittent airflow during DRY operation.
- Very low airflow when QUIET fan speed is selected.
- Indoor fan stopping intermittently in COOL when the outdoor unit is stopped.
- Very low fan speed during temperature monitoring in AUTO mode.
Troubleshooting
Unit Does Not Operate
- Check the circuit breaker.
- Check for a power outage.
- Check whether a fuse has blown or breaker has tripped.
- Check whether a timer is controlling operation.
Poor Cooling Performance
- Check whether the air filter is dirty.
- Check whether the intake grille or outlet is blocked.
- Confirm the temperature setting is appropriate.
- Check for open windows or doors.
- Check for strong sunlight or high internal heat load.
- Check whether fan speed is set to QUIET.
- Check whether Outdoor Unit Low Noise is active.
- Check whether Demand Response is active.
Remote Controller Does Not Operate Correctly
- Check whether the remote-controller batteries are flat.
- Check battery polarity and installation.
- Confirm there are no obstructions between the remote and indoor-unit receiver.
