If the remote controller is unavailable, the MANUAL AUTO button on the indoor unit can be used:

Unit statusButton actionResult
OperatingPressStops operation
StoppedPress for less than 10 secondsAUTO operation
StoppedPress for more than 10 secondsForced cooling – service use only

2. Airflow direction and swing

The unit has motorised vertical and horizontal airflow adjustment from the wireless remote controller.

SettingRange / behaviour
Vertical airflow6 positions. Default: position 2 in COOL / DRY and position 4 in HEAT.
Horizontal airflow5 positions. Default: centre position 3.
SwingUp/down → left/right → up/down + left/right → stop swing.
Up/down swing rangeCOOL / DRY: positions 1–4. HEAT: positions 3–6. FAN follows the previously selected airflow range.
Condensation prevention: In COOL or DRY mode, if vertical positions 4–6 are used for more than approximately 20 minutes, the louver automatically returns to position 3. Do not adjust the louvers by hand.

3. Timer operation

Set the day and clock before configuring timers. Following a power interruption, the TIMER indicator may blink and the clock/timer should be reset.

TimerPurpose
ON timerStarts the unit at the selected time.
OFF timerStops the unit at the selected time.
Program timerCombines an ON and OFF timer within a 24-hour period.
SLEEP timerGradually adjusts temperature for comfort, then turns the unit off after the selected duration.
WEEKLY timerUp to 4 ON/OFF reservations per day, up to 28 per week.

Weekly Timer important points

  • Up to 4 programs can be configured for each day.
  • ON timer temperature can be selected.
  • AUTO / COOL / DRY timer temperatures are 18–30 °C.
  • HEAT timer temperature can be 10 °C or 16–30 °C.
  • The Weekly Timer cannot operate simultaneously with ON/OFF, Program or SLEEP timers.
  • If ON and OFF are set for the same time, the ON timer takes priority.

4. Comfort and energy-saving functions

POWERFUL operation

Runs the unit at maximum power and strong airflow for rapid cooling or heating. It automatically ends when the target condition is reached or after approximately 20 minutes. POWERFUL cannot be used at the same time as ECONOMY and temporarily overrides Outdoor Unit Low Noise and Energy Saving.

10 °C HEAT

Maintains the room at approximately 10 °C to help prevent the temperature dropping too low. Only vertical airflow adjustment is available during 10 °C HEAT, and heating will not run if the room is already warm enough.

ECONOMY

Reduces energy use by moderating the temperature target. In COOL / DRY the room temperature is allowed to rise a few degrees; in HEAT it is allowed to fall a few degrees. Maximum output is approximately 70% of normal operation.

Outdoor Unit Low Noise

Reduces outdoor-unit noise by lowering compressor rotation and fan speed. The setting is retained until cancelled. It cannot be used at the same time as FAN, DRY or POWERFUL operation.

Human Sensor – Energy Saving

The Energy Saving program is ON from the factory. If no movement is detected for approximately 20 minutes, the system moderates the temperature setting and returns to the original setting when occupancy is detected again.

ModeWhen no one is detected
COOL / DRYSet temperature increases by up to approximately 2 °C.
HEATSet temperature decreases by up to approximately 4 °C.
AUTOEnergy Saving follows the currently selected cooling / heating / drying operation.

The Human Sensor detection area is approximately 7 m, 90° vertical and 100° horizontal. Detection can be affected by people remaining still, furniture or glass, thick clothing, pets, moving curtains/plants and heat-producing appliances.

Demand Response

The product is compatible with Air Conditioning Demand Response where arranged with the electricity supplier. During a DR event, the OPERATION indicator blinks and cooling/heating capacity may be reduced.

DR modeOperation
DR1Compressor off.
DR2Electrical energy consumption is limited to no more than 50% of rated consumption over a 30-minute period.
DR3Electrical energy consumption is limited to no more than 75% of rated consumption over a 30-minute period.

5. Optional wired remote controller

An optional wired remote controller can be used, including simultaneously with the wireless remote controller, but some wireless functions become restricted.

Controller typeRestricted wireless functions
Polar 3-coreOutdoor Unit Low Noise, Energy Saving, 10 °C HEAT, POWERFUL and timer operation.
Non-polar 2-coreOutdoor Unit Low Noise, 10 °C HEAT, Weekly Timer and POWERFUL.

The wired remote controller also provides a Temperature Set Back Timer.

6. Cleaning and care

Before cleaning: Stop the air conditioner and disconnect the power supply. Do not touch the aluminium heat-exchanger fins.

During normal use, clean the main air filters approximately every 2 weeks. Dirty filters reduce airflow, lower efficiency and can increase operating noise.

Air cleaning filterPart number / maintenance
Apple-catechin filterUTR-FA13-1. Disposable. Replace approximately every 3 months under normal use.
Ion deodorization filterUTR-FA13-2. Light blue. Clean approximately every 3 months and replace approximately every 3 years.

If the unit has been shut down for one month or longer, operate FAN mode for approximately half a day to dry the internal components before returning to normal operation.

7. R32 minimum room area

Installation requirement: The appliance, outlet and inlet must be installed, operated and stored in a room meeting the minimum floor-area requirement for the total refrigerant charge.
ModelTotal refrigerant charge MMinimum room area X
ASTG30KMTAM ≤ 1.65 kg2.60 m²
1.65 < M ≤ 2.05 kg4.01 m²
2.05 < M ≤ 2.45 kg5.72 m²
2.45 < M ≤ 2.85 kg7.74 m²
ASTG34KMTAM ≤ 2.00 kg3.81 m²
2.00 < M ≤ 2.45 kg5.72 m²
2.45 < M ≤ 2.90 kg8.02 m²

M = amount of refrigerant charge. X = minimum room floor area. Refer to the installation manual and applicable R32 requirements before installation or service.

8. Normal operating characteristics

  • Restart delay: Compressor operation may be delayed for approximately 3 minutes after a sudden OFF → ON power change.
  • Automatic defrost: Heating may stop temporarily for up to approximately 15 minutes. The OPERATION indicator blinks during defrost.
  • Heating airflow: Fan speed may remain very low during warm-up or when room temperature is above the heating set point.
  • DRY mode: Fan operates at low speed and may stop intermittently.
  • Mist / steam: Light mist indoors during cooling or steam outdoors during heating defrost can be normal.
  • Water from outdoor unit: Water can be produced during heating defrost.
  • Operating sounds: Refrigerant-flow sounds, slight panel movement and sizzling during defrost can be normal.

9. Troubleshooting
