1. Quick start
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Press START/STOP. |
| 2 | Press MODE to select AUTO, COOL, DRY, FAN or HEAT. |
| 3 | Use the temperature buttons to select the required set temperature. |
| Mode | Temperature setting range |
|---|---|
| AUTO / COOL / DRY | 18.0–30.0 °C |
| HEAT | 16.0–30.0 °C |
| FAN | Temperature setting is not available. |
2. Fan speed and airflow direction
Fan speed: AUTO → HIGH → MED → LOW → QUIET. In AUTO, the fan speed is adjusted automatically according to operating conditions.
SWING: Repeatedly press SWING to cycle through Up/Down, Left/Right, Up/Down + Left/Right, and Stop Swing.
3. Special operating functions
| Function | What it does |
|---|---|
| POWERFUL | Runs the system at high output and strong airflow for rapid heating or cooling. It automatically ends after approximately 20 minutes or when operating conditions are satisfied. It cannot operate with ECONOMY. |
| 10 °C HEAT | Maintains the room at approximately 10 °C to help prevent the room becoming excessively cold. The ECONOMY indicator illuminates during this mode. |
| ECONOMY | Moderates the set temperature to reduce power consumption. Maximum output is approximately 70% of normal operation in COOL, HEAT or DRY. |
| OUTDOOR UNIT LOW NOISE | Reduces compressor speed and outdoor fan speed to lower operating noise. It cannot operate at the same time as FAN, DRY or POWERFUL. |
Human Sensor energy saving
The Energy Saving Program is enabled at the time of purchase. If no person is detected for approximately 20 minutes, the set temperature is adjusted automatically:
- COOL / DRY: up to approximately 2 °C higher.
- HEAT: up to approximately 4 °C lower.
- AUTO: adjusts according to the active operating mode.
When movement is detected again, the unit returns to the original setting. The sensor detection range is approximately 7 m, 90° vertically and 100° horizontally.
Demand Response
| DR mode | Operation |
|---|---|
| DR1 | Compressor off. |
| DR2 | Energy consumption is limited to no more than 50% of rated consumption over a 30-minute period. |
| DR3 | Energy consumption is limited to no more than 75% of rated consumption over a 30-minute period. |
4. Timer operation
The remote controller supports ON timer, OFF timer, Program timer, Sleep timer and Weekly timer. Set the current day and time before using timer functions.
ON / OFF timer
- Press TIMER SETTING.
- Use SELECT to choose ON or OFF.
- Press NEXT.
- Set the required time using SELECT.
- Press SEND while close to the indoor unit.
Program timer
Combines one ON timer and one OFF timer within a 24-hour period. The event closest to the current time operates first.
Sleep timer
Available durations are 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 or 9 hours. The set temperature is adjusted gradually before the air conditioner switches off.
Weekly timer
Up to 4 programs per day can be set, for a maximum of 28 programs per week. Each program can be set as ON, OFF or no timer. An ON event can also include a temperature setting.
5. Built-in Wireless LAN control
The KMCB series has a built-in Wireless LAN adapter. The Wireless LAN indicator and control buttons are located on the indoor unit.
- The Wireless LAN indicators can be turned off through the mobile app.
- Wireless LAN setup and troubleshooting are covered in the separate Wireless LAN setting manual / mobile app instructions.
- If the air conditioner operates normally from the handheld remote but not from the app, refer to the Wireless LAN setup instructions rather than treating this as an air-conditioning fault.
6. Custom code and wired controller options
Remote controller custom code
If multiple indoor units are installed in the same room, the remote controller can be changed between custom codes A, B, C and D.
- Stop operation so only the clock is displayed.
- Hold MODE for at least 5 seconds.
- Use the temperature buttons to select A, B, C or D.
- Press MODE again to save.
The indoor unit is factory-set to code A. The indoor unit and remote controller codes must match.
Optional wired remote controller
A wired remote controller can be used, but some wireless remote functions become restricted.
| Wired controller type | Restricted wireless functions |
|---|---|
| Polar 3-core | Outdoor Unit Low Noise, Energy Saving, 10 °C HEAT, Powerful and timer operation. |
| Non-polar 2-core | Outdoor Unit Low Noise, 10 °C HEAT, Weekly timer and Powerful. |
7. Cleaning and filter maintenance
| Item | Recommended interval |
|---|---|
| Main air filters | Every 2 weeks under normal use. |
| Apple-catechin filter UTR-FA16 | Replace approximately every 3 months under normal use. Disposable; do not wash. |
| Ion deodorization filter UTR-FA16-2 | Clean approximately every 3 months and replace approximately every 3 years under normal use. |
If the installer-enabled filter indicator is active, the ECONOMY indicator will blink when cleaning is due. After cleaning, press the indoor unit MANUAL AUTO button for less than 3 seconds to reset the filter indication.
8. Normal operating characteristics
- 3-minute restart delay: the compressor may remain off for about 3 minutes after power is restored or operation is restarted.
- Defrost: heating may stop for up to approximately 15 minutes while the outdoor unit defrosts. The OPERATION indicator blinks.
- Low fan speed in HEAT: normal during warm-up or when the room is above set temperature.
- Mist in COOL / DRY: can occur due to rapid cooling and condensation.
- Steam or water outdoors in HEAT: can occur during automatic defrost.
- Refrigerant flow or slight squeaking noises: can be normal during operation or temperature changes.
9. Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Check |
|---|---|
| Does not operate | Check the circuit breaker, power supply, fuse and timer settings. |
| Poor cooling or heating | Check filters, blocked inlet/outlet, set temperature, open doors/windows, strong sunlight, QUIET fan speed, Outdoor Unit Low Noise and Demand Response. |
| Airflow weak or stops | Can be normal in HEAT warm-up, defrost, DRY mode, AUTO monitoring or when QUIET is selected. |
| Remote control response is incorrect | Check battery condition, battery installation and the A/B/C/D custom code setting. |
| App / Wireless LAN issue | Refer to the separate Wireless LAN setting manual or mobile app instructions. |
