Operation, timers, energy-saving functions, care and troubleshooting
Wall-mounted R32 split-system air conditioners
This guide summarises the main day-to-day operating functions for ASTG09KMCA and ASTG12KMCA, including remote-controller operation, timers, Human Sensor energy saving, Demand Response, cleaning and common operating characteristics.
R32 refrigerant: This product uses flammable refrigerant R32. Installation, relocation, refrigerant work and servicing must only be carried out by appropriately qualified personnel in accordance with applicable regulations and service instructions.
1. Quick start

Heating start-up: In HEAT mode, the indoor fan may operate at very low speed for approximately 3–5 minutes while the unit warms internally. This is normal.
2. Remote controller functions

Remote-controller range: Aim the transmitter at the indoor-unit receiver. Normal operating range is approximately 7 metres. A confirmation beep should be heard when the signal is received.
Manual Auto operation
If the remote controller is lost or unavailable, use the MANUAL AUTO button on the indoor unit:

3. Timer operation
Before using timers, make sure the remote controller clock and day are correct. A power interruption can make the internal clock incorrect and cause the TIMER indicator to blink.
ON / OFF timer
- Press TIMER SETTING.
- Use SELECT to choose ON/OFF timer and press NEXT.
- Set the required time with SELECT.
- Press SEND while close to the indoor unit.
Program timer
The ON timer and OFF timer can be combined as an ON→OFF or OFF→ON sequence within a 24-hour period. The timer closest to the current time operates first.
Sleep timer
The SLEEP timer gradually adjusts the set temperature to reduce excessive heating or cooling while sleeping, then switches the unit off after the selected duration.
Weekly timer
The WEEKLY timer supports up to 4 ON/OFF reservations per day and 28 reservations per week. Temperature can be included with ON settings.
- Enter TIMER SETTING and select WEEKLY.
- Select the required day and program number.
- Select ON timer, OFF timer or no timer.
- Set the required time.
- For an ON event, set the required temperature.
- Press SEND to save.
The WEEKLY timer cannot be used at the same time as ON/OFF, Program or SLEEP timer operation. If another timer is used, the WEEKLY timer must be activated again afterwards.
4. Human Sensor and energy saving
The Human Sensor detects movement in the room and can automatically moderate the temperature when nobody is detected for approximately 20 minutes.

The sensor has an approximate 7 m range, with a vertical detection angle of 90° and horizontal angle of 100°. Detection may be affected when people remain still, are obscured by furniture, or when moving pets, curtains, plants or appliances are within the sensing area.
Demand Response
These models are compatible with an electricity-supplier Demand Response program where available. During a Demand Response event the indoor OPERATION indicator blinks and the system may have its compressor disabled or its electricity consumption limited.

5. Normal operating characteristics
| 3-minute restart delay | After a sudden OFF→ON restart, the compressor may remain stopped for about 3 minutes for protection. |
| Automatic defrost | During heating in cold/humid conditions, operation may stop temporarily for up to approximately 15 minutes while the outdoor unit defrosts. The OPERATION indicator blinks. |
| Steam / water outdoors | Steam or water from the outdoor unit during heating/defrost is normal. |
| Low airflow in heating | The fan may operate very slowly while the indoor heat exchanger warms or when room temperature is above the set temperature. |
| Auto restart | After a power interruption, the system normally restarts automatically in the previous operating mode. Timer settings may require resetting. |
Indoor operating range

6. Care and cleaning
Before cleaning the indoor unit, stop operation and disconnect the power supply. Do not touch the aluminium heat-exchanger fins.
Air filters should be cleaned approximately every 2 weeks under normal use. A clogged filter can reduce airflow, lower performance and increase operating noise.
- Open the intake grille.
- Release the filter claws and remove each air filter.
- Remove the air-cleaning filter holders from the rear of the filters.
- Vacuum the filter, or wash it using warm water and a neutral household detergent.
- Dry completely in the shade.
- Refit the filter and ensure the retaining claws are correctly engaged.
- Close the intake grille completely.

7. Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Check |

| Does not operate | Check circuit breaker, power outage, fuse/breaker trip and active timer settings. |
| Poor cooling or heating | Check filters, blocked inlet/outlet, temperature setting, open windows/doors, direct sunlight, other heat loads, QUIET fan mode, Outdoor Unit Low Noise mode and Demand Response. |
| Remote operation differs | Check battery condition and polarity. |
| TIMER indicator blinking after outage | Reset the clock and timer settings. |
Stop operation and isolate power immediately if there is a burning smell, smoke, water leakage, or if the problem continues after basic checks. If the OPERATION and TIMER indicators blink while the ECONOMY indicator is blinking rapidly, service attention is required.
