UTB-TUD Wired Remote Controller
Compatibility, operation, timers, installation and function settings
For applicable Fujitsu General wall-mounted and compatible indoor units
The UTB-TUD is a 3-wire wired remote controller with weekly scheduling, temperature setback, economy operation, room-temperature sensor selection and self-diagnosis functions. Available functions depend on the connected indoor unit.
Authorised personnel only: Installation, wiring, DIP switch adjustment and function setting must be completed by appropriately qualified service personnel. Isolate the air conditioner power supply before opening the indoor unit or controller.

2. Australian wall-mounted compatibility
The technical bulletin identifies the following Australian wall-mounted models as compatible with the UTB-TUD.

Chassis Type A: A UTY-XCBXE communication box kit is required to connect the wired controller.
Important restrictions for wall-mounted units:
- Group control and dual remote controller operation are not supported.
- On Chassis Type A units, the wireless remote cannot operate Coil Dry, 10°C Heat, Program Timer or Sleep Timer once the wired controller is installed.
- On Chassis Type B units, the wireless remote controller cannot be used after the wired controller is connected.
Note: Compatibility is model-specific. For indoor units not listed above, confirm suitability in the relevant indoor-unit installation manual before connecting the controller.
3. Basic operation

Set the current day and time
- Press and hold TIMER MODE / CLOCK ADJUST for at least 2 seconds.
- Press DAY to select the current day.
- Use the SET TIME left and right buttons to set the time.
- Press SET BACK to switch between 12-hour and 24-hour display.
- Press TIMER MODE / CLOCK ADJUST again to finish.
Child lock
Press and hold DAY and TIMER SET together for at least 2 seconds. Repeat the same action to unlock the controller. “CL” appears when a locked button is pressed.
Room-temperature sensor selection
Where the function has been enabled by an installer, press and hold ECONOMY / THERMO SENSOR for more than 2 seconds to select either the indoor-unit sensor or the controller sensor. When the thermo-sensor symbol is displayed, temperature is being detected at the wired controller.
The sensor-selection function is locked at the factory. Function 42 must be enabled before the user can change the sensing location. Controller placement is critical; direct sunlight, supply air, external walls and nearby heat sources can cause inaccurate temperature control.
4. Timer functions
ON or OFF timer
- Press TIMER MODE until the ON timer or OFF timer is displayed.
- Use SET TIME to select 1 to 24 hours.
- The timer starts automatically after the time is entered.
- Press TIMER DELETE to cancel.
Weekly timer
- Press TIMER MODE and select Weekly Timer.
- Press and hold TIMER SET for at least 2 seconds.
- Select the required day using DAY, then press TIMER SET.
- Use SET TIME to program ON-1, OFF-1, ON-2 and OFF-2 as required.
- Press TIMER SET to confirm each setting.
- Press and hold TIMER SET for at least 2 seconds to finish.
- Up to two ON and two OFF events can be programmed per day.
- Times are set in 30-minute increments.
- Both an ON and OFF time must be entered.
- Press TIMER DELETE while editing to remove the selected operating time.
Day Off
While editing the weekly timer, select the required day and press and hold DAY / DAY OFF for at least 2 seconds. The Day Off setting applies once and is automatically cancelled after the selected day passes.
Temperature setback timer
The setback timer changes the set temperature during programmed periods. It does not start or stop the air conditioner.
- Press SET BACK.
- Press and hold TIMER SET for at least 2 seconds.
- Select the day and operating time using the same method as the weekly timer.
- Use SET TEMP. to select the setback temperature.
- Press and hold TIMER SET for at least 2 seconds to finish.
5. Installation and wiring
Controller location
- Install where the room temperature is representative of the occupied space.
- Do not install in direct sunlight, in discharge airflow or close to another heat source.
- Keep controller wiring separate from mains, transmission and interconnection wiring.
- Use shielded cable where electromagnetic interference may be present.

Never connect the controller cable to the outdoor-unit terminals or the indoor-unit power terminal block. Use only the dedicated remote-controller terminal or the specified model-specific connector.

Do not change unused switches. Incorrect DIP switch settings can cause communication faults or unavailable functions.
6. Test run and function settings
Test run
- Stop the air conditioner if it is operating.
- Press and hold MODE and FAN together for more than 2 seconds.
- The operation lamp illuminates and the test-run symbol appears.
- The test run operates for up to 60 minutes.
- Press START/STOP to finish early.
Enter function-setting mode
- Press both SET TEMP. buttons and FAN together for more than 5 seconds.
- Press SET BACK to select the indoor-unit number.
- Use SET TIME to select the function number.
- Use SET TEMP. to select the setting value.
- Press and hold TIMER SET until the value stops flashing.
- After completing all settings, exit function-setting mode and cycle power to the system.

Function numbers and available values can vary by indoor unit. Always confirm the applicable indoor-unit installation manual before changing a setting.
7. Troubleshooting and error display

| Airflow stops during heating | This may be normal during automatic defrost. Heating can pause for approximately 4 to 15 minutes. |
| Unit enters standby on a multi system | Indoor units connected to the same outdoor unit cannot operate in conflicting modes such as heating and cooling. |
| Timer settings are lost after a power failure | Check memory-backup batteries and confirm DIP 1 No. 6 is set correctly. |
Stop operation immediately if there is a burning smell, smoke, abnormal heat or another safety concern. Turn off the electrical breaker and arrange inspection by authorised service personnel.
