5. Fault codes and self-diagnosis
How to display a fault on the wired remote controller
- If EE:EE flashes in the clock/current-time display, an air-conditioner error is present.
- Press the SET TIME and TEMP./DAY buttons simultaneously for more than 3 seconds.
- The self-diagnosis function will display the stored error code in the current-time display.
- After checking the code, troubleshoot using the table below.
| Code | Fault description |
|---|---|
| E:00 | Communication error – indoor unit / remote controller |
| E:01 | Communication error – indoor unit / outdoor unit |
| E:02 | Room temperature sensor open circuit |

Outdoor PCB LED diagnosis
The AOT36RCG3L outdoor PCB uses LED1 to LED6 to indicate outdoor faults. The manual identifies LED patterns for signal abnormal, indoor unit abnormal, discharge-pipe temperature abnormal, outdoor heat exchanger temperature abnormal, outdoor temperature abnormal, power-source connection error, EEPROM abnormal and outdoor high-pressure abnormal.
Once the fault is cleared, the outdoor LED indication normally turns off. The manual notes that discharge-pipe temperature and high-pressure abnormal indications can remain continuously displayed for up to 24 hours while power remains on.

8. Service notes
- The cassette includes a float switch and drain pump; an E:09 code indicates float-switch operation.
- During test operation, confirm there are no abnormal sounds or vibration.
- The manual notes that at low outdoor temperatures the outdoor fans may reduce speed, and one fan may stop intermittently.
- Use the circuit diagrams when checking the compressor magnetic relay, fan capacitors, 4-way valve, electronic expansion valve, pressure switch and thermistor circuits.
- Because this is three-phase equipment, confirm supply condition and phase connections when investigating an E:08 power source connection error.
