2. Main operating functions

Auto-off timer

The indoor unit can be set to switch off automatically after a defined period. The auto-off period can be set from 30 to 240 minutes. The function can also be restricted to a defined daily time interval.

Set temperature auto return

If a user changes the set temperature, the controller can automatically return to the previous temperature after a defined period. The return period can be set from 30 to 120 minutes.

Temperature range limits

Upper and lower set-temperature limits can be applied independently for Cooling, Heating and Auto operation.

Weekly timer

The weekly timer can control On/Off, operation mode, set temperature and time. Two separate schedules, Weekly 1 and Weekly 2, are available for applications such as summer and winter scheduling.

Lock and management functions

  • Child lock: locks all controller operation.
  • Part lock: locks settings other than Mode, Set temperature and Fan.
  • Management password: allows nominated functions to be restricted.

Important: Controller compatibility varies by indoor-unit family. Confirm the applicable indoor-unit documentation before installing a second controller or mixed controller type.

5. Installation requirements

Minimum installation space

  • 30 mm or more clearance at the sides and below.
  • 220 mm or more above where required to allow a flat-blade screwdriver to be inserted for case removal.

UTY-RVNYN shield and earthing

  • Secure the tube near its end with the large cable tie.
  • Do not secure the functional earthing wire in the same large cable tie.
  • Connect the controller functional earthing wire and remote-controller cable shield as specified, then insulate the connection.

Mounting options

  1. Switch box: seal the wiring hole, pass the remote-controller cable through the rear case and secure the rear case with the supplied screws.
  2. Direct wall mounting: seal the wiring hole, pass the cable through the rear opening and secure the rear case.
  3. On-wall cable routing: remove the front-case cable guide, deburr the opening and secure the rear case.

Terminal tightening

Terminal screw torque0.8 to 1.2 N·m (8 to 12 lbf·in)
Do not over-tighten the cable tie or terminal screws. Secure the cable so that excessive tension is not transferred to the terminal block. When refitting the front case, ensure the cable is not pinched and the case is fully engaged.

7. Indoor-unit function settings

Indoor-unit function settings can be accessed from the UTY-RVNYN. The actual Function Number and Setting Number must be taken from the Design & Technical Manual for the applicable indoor unit.

  1. From the Monitor screen, press the Menu button twice to display the Submenu.
  2. Press the Left screen switch and Right screen switch buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds to enter the Service screen.
  3. Select Function setting with the Up/Down cursor and press Enter.
  4. Select the required R.C. address for the target indoor unit.
  5. Select the required Function No..
  6. Select the required Setting No. and press Enter.
Do not guess a Function Number or Setting Number. Confirm the setting against the technical manual for the specific indoor-unit model before making a change.

8. Remote-controller service settings

Timing requirement: The following remote-controller service-setting procedure must be carried out within 3 minutes after power is turned on.
  1. Enter the Service screen: from Monitor, press Menu twice, then hold the Left and Right screen-switch buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds.
  2. Press the Left screen-switch button + Enter button + Down cursor simultaneously for 5 seconds.
  3. The controller changes to the R.C. function setting screen.

Note: The technical manual advises that this button combination may not operate correctly if the buttons are pressed too hard.

Operation mode exemption

Selected operation modes can be removed from the UTY-RVNYN operation-mode menu. This removes the mode from the controller menu only; it does not remove the operating mode from the indoor unit itself.

  • For dual-controller operation, apply the same setting to both Primary and Secondary controllers.
  • After changing the setting, operate the system in a mode that has not been exempted.

Set temperature range - initial

The controller's initial set-temperature range can be restricted separately for each operation mode. For dual-controller applications, set the same range on both controllers.

Room temperature correction

The temperature value sensed by the wired remote controller can be corrected using the Room Temperature Correction setting.
