4. Controls and optional interfaces
The ASTG09KMTC and ASTG12KMTC are supplied with a wireless remote controller. Wired control and external input/output functions can also be added using the appropriate optional interfaces.
Optional controllers
| Part number | Description |
|---|---|
| UTY-RNRYZ | Wired remote controller, non-polar 2-wire. |
| UTY-RSRY | Simple remote controller with Start/Stop, fan, temperature and operation mode controls. |
| UTY-RHRY | Simple remote controller with Start/Stop, fan and temperature adjustment. |
| UTY-TWRXZ2 | Communication kit required for compatible non-polar 2-wire wired remote controllers. |
External input and output
| Part number | Purpose |
|---|---|
| UTY-XCSXZ2 | External input and output PCB. |
| UTY-XWZXZ5 | External connect kit used when connecting an external device. |
External input functions include:
- Operation / Stop
- Forced Stop
- Forced Thermostat Off
Available external outputs include:
- Operation status
- Error status
- Indoor fan operation status
- External heater output
External input wiring should use twisted-pair cable with a maximum length of 150 m and must be separated from power wiring. External output wiring should use 22 AWG twisted-pair cable with a maximum length of 25 m.
Group control
Multiple indoor units can be operated at the same time using a single compatible wired remote controller.
- Up to 16 indoor units can be connected when automatic addressing is used.
- Total remote-controller wiring length must not exceed 500 m.
- If addresses are manually assigned, connect up to 15 indoor units.
- Each manually addressed indoor unit must have a unique remote-controller address.
Note: When different indoor-unit types are connected within the same group-control system, some functions may no longer be available.
5. Function settings
Function settings allow the indoor unit to be configured to suit the installation environment and control requirements.
| Function No. | Function | Summary |

Additional refrigerant charge
The outdoor unit is factory charged for up to 15 m of total pipe length. For pipe lengths above 15 m up to the maximum 20 m, add 20 g/m of R32. At 20 m total pipe length, the additional charge is 100 g.
Outdoor installation space – common single-unit examples
| Obstacle at rear only | 100 mm or more |
| Obstacles at rear and sides | Rear 100 mm or more / sides 100 mm or more / 250 mm or more as shown in installation diagram |
| Obstacle at front | 600 mm or more |
| Obstacles at front and rear | Front 600 mm or more / rear 100 mm or more |
Do not guess outdoor clearances. The required space changes depending on surrounding obstacles, overhead obstructions and whether multiple units are installed. Use the installation-space diagrams in the technical manual for the actual site arrangement.
7. Service notes
- The outdoor refrigerant circuit includes compressor, 4-way valve, expansion valve, strainers and indoor/outdoor heat exchangers.
- The indoor-unit PCB includes protection by a 250 V, 3.15 A fuse and fan-motor thermal protection.
- The outdoor unit includes compressor discharge-temperature protection and low outdoor-temperature protection in COOL/DRY operation.
- Actual sound levels at site can be higher than published values due to surrounding surfaces and the installation environment.
