VRF Outdoor Function Settings

Applicable series: VR-II, V-III, V-II, J-IIIL, J-III, J-II and J-IIS
Important: Function settings must only be changed by trained technicians. Stop the system before entering function-setting mode. Do not alter any item marked Prohibited. Settings identified as unavailable for Slave outdoor units must only be changed at the Master outdoor unit.
How to use this article: Select the correct VRF series first, then confirm the LED105 setting-mode code, LED104 function code, allowed setting value and whether the adjustment is permitted on the Master or Slave outdoor unit.

1. Accessing Function Setting Mode

StepActionExpected display
1Stop outdoor-unit operation and confirm normal system status. Remove the front panel and electrical component-box cover as required.LED105 and LED104 indicate normal status.
2Press MODE/EXIT (SW107) once.Mode-selection display opens.
3Press SELECT (SW108) until F2 appears on LED104.LED104 = F2. Do not select F1 or F9 during normal setting work.
4Press ENTER (SW109).Function mode is confirmed.
5Use SW108 to select the LED105 setting-mode code, then press SW109. Use SW108 again to select the LED104 function value, then press SW109 to confirm.Flashing display becomes steady when accepted.
6Press SW109 after completion, then press SW107 to exit.Returns to normal display.
Do not guess a code. The same LED105 code can have different meanings between VRF generations. Always use the table for the exact series being serviced.

J-IIIL demand control: The source manual contains a separate power-limit calculation and current-release setting table for demand-control kits. These values depend on outdoor-unit rated input and model capacity. Do not apply generic current limits; calculate and record the value for the exact outdoor-unit model.

7. Electricity Meter Settings

The manual uses LED105 codes 70–73 to build the electricity-meter number and pulse setting for a meter connected to CN135. The available meter-number range is generally 0001–9999. Meter numbers 000 and 201–299 may make pulse input ineffective on applicable series. Confirm the exact restrictions for the outdoor-unit generation.
LED105PurposeTypical entry
70Meter number – ones and tens digitsx00 to x99
71Meter number – hundreds digit0xx to 9xx
72Pulse setting – lower digitsx000 to x999
73Pulse setting – thousands digit0xxx to 9xxx

8. Commissioning and Recordkeeping

  1. Confirm the exact outdoor-unit series and whether the unit is Master or Slave.
  2. Record the original LED105 and LED104 values before changing anything.
  3. Change only one function at a time and confirm the display becomes steady.
  4. Run the system and confirm capacity, noise, pressure and control behaviour.
  5. Record final settings in the commissioning report and retain them with the project BAK/service records.
Escalate before changing: prohibited codes, demand-control current limits, recovery-operation settings, or any value that does not match the exact outdoor-unit service manual.
