VRF VII / VR-II / VIII - Test Run Procedure
1. Test Run from the Outdoor PCB
All indoor units connected to the outdoor unit can be test-operated using the outdoor PCB push-button settings. This procedure is performed from the master outdoor unit.
| Step | Action | Display / Function |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | From the normal monitoring condition, press MODE / EXIT (SW107) once. | Mode selection |
| 2 | Press SELECT (SW108) until Function Mode is selected. | F3 |
| 3 | Press ENTER (SW109). | Function selection |
| 4 | Use SELECT (SW108) to choose the required test-run function. | 00 = Cooling test run 01 = Heating test run 02 = Test run stop 91 = Central control forced reset |
| 5 | Hold ENTER (SW109) for at least 3 seconds. | Command executed |
| 6 | After execution is complete, press ENTER, or allow the approximately 5-second timeout. | Returns to function selection |
| 7 | Press MODE / EXIT to return to normal monitoring. | Normal monitor display |
Stopping a test run from the outdoor PCB
Repeat the Function Mode procedure and select 02 - Test Run Stop, then hold ENTER (SW109) for at least 3 seconds.
2. Test Run from Remote Controllers
2.1 Standard wired remote controller - UTY-RNK series
- Stop the indoor unit before initiating the test-run command.
- Use the controller's dedicated test-run button combination and hold it for more than 2 seconds.
- The air conditioner enters test run and the test-run indication appears on the controller display.
- The normal temperature-setting control is restricted during test operation; other display and protection functions continue to operate.
- To stop the test run, press START / STOP.
2.2 Standard wireless remote controller - UTY-LNH series
- Ensure the air conditioner is running.
- Press the TEST RUN button on the wireless remote controller.
- During test run, the indoor-unit OPERATION and TIMER lamps flash slowly at the same time.
- To end test run, press START / STOP.
2.3 Simple remote controller - UTY-RSK series
- Stop both the indoor and outdoor units.
- Use the controller's specified test-run button combination and hold it for more than 3 seconds.
- The controller displays the test-run indication while the system operates.
- To stop test run, use the controller's stop command.
- Check for abnormal sound or vibration while the system is operating.
2.4 2-wire wired remote controller - UTY-RNR series
| 1 | From the Monitor screen, press Menu. |
| 2 | Press Next Page, then select Maintenance. |
| 3 | Press Next Page, then select Test Run. |
| 4 | Confirm with OK. |
The test run continues for approximately 60 minutes. To interrupt it before completion, return to the Monitor screen and turn the unit OFF.
2.5 Touch Panel Controller - UTY-DTG series
- From the Monitor screen, select the indoor unit or units to be test-run. Multiple selections are possible.
- Press Operation to open the Operation Setting screen.
- Select Optional Setting.
- In the Details / Optional Setting screen, select Start under Test Operation.
- Press OK to send the command.
The test run continues for approximately 60 minutes. To stop it earlier, select the device being test-run and issue an OFF / Stop command.
2.6 Central Remote Controller - UTY-DCG series
- Open the controller menu.
- Select Set-up Menu and enter the required password.
- Select Indoor Unit Special Setting.
- Select Test Operation.
- Choose Select All or Identify Unit as required.
- Press Start.
The test run continues for approximately 60 minutes. To interrupt it, return to the Monitor screen and issue an OFF command.
3. What Happens During Test Run
- The test-run command is transmitted through the remote controller, transmission network or outdoor unit.
- The electronic expansion valve is driven toward maximum flow irrespective of normal room-temperature control.
- Frost-prevention protection has priority over the test-run command.
- All indoor units on the same refrigerant circuit operate in the mode selected at the outdoor unit.
- Test run stops automatically after approximately 60 minutes.
- Normal test-run initialisation is shown below.
| Parameter | Cooling | Heating |
|---|---|---|
| Fan speed | High | High |
| Room temperature indication | 18°C | 30°C |
| Swing | OFF | OFF |
4. Commissioning Checks During Test Run
- Confirm all expected indoor units start and communicate normally.
- Confirm the selected cooling or heating mode is achieved across the refrigerant circuit.
- Check for abnormal noise, vibration or mechanical contact.
- Confirm indoor fan operation and airflow.
- Check outdoor fan and compressor operation.
- Verify that no new error codes are generated.
- Confirm refrigerant pipe temperatures and system pressures respond appropriately for the selected mode.
- Confirm condensate drainage during cooling operation.
- At completion, stop test run and verify the system returns to normal controller operation.
MODE / EXIT → SELECT to F3 → ENTER → SELECT 00 Cooling / 01 Heating / 02 Stop → hold ENTER for at least 3 seconds.
