UTY-XWZXZ5 External Input / Output Kit
External ON/OFF or Forced Stop input, operation output and error output
Installation manual reference: Part No. 9319446004
The UTY-XWZXZ5 allows a compatible indoor unit to interface with external equipment such as a BMS, timer, occupancy system, card-key switch, automation controller or remote status panel.
Compatibility must be confirmed: This kit is not universal. Confirm the full indoor-unit model number, required communication kit or PCB connection, and the applicable indoor-unit installation manual before installation.
1. Kit contents and wire colours
| Lead | Wire colours | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| External input | Orange / Yellow | Operation/Stop or Forced Stop input |
| Operation output | Blue / Purple | Run/stop status output |
| Error output | Red / White | Normal/error status output |
| Fixing hardware | Binder clamp, binder and screw | Secures the accessory wiring inside the indoor unit |
2. External input
The Orange and Yellow wires connect to a field-supplied dry contact. The indoor-unit function setting determines whether the input operates as Operation/Stop or Forced Stop.
| Specification | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Input type | Field-supplied no-voltage contact |
| Required contact rating | 24 V DC or more, 10 mA or more |
| Maximum wiring distance | 10 m from the communication-kit PCB to the connected device |
| Input wires | Orange and Yellow |
Operation/Stop mode
| Input signal | Indoor-unit response |
|---|---|
| ON | Operation |
| OFF | Stop |
When started by the external input, the unit resumes the mode, set temperature and airflow settings that were active before the previous stop. These settings must be changed using the normal remote controller.
Forced Stop mode
When the external input is active, the indoor unit is forced to stop and remote-controller operation is invalid. When the forced-stop signal is removed, normal remote-controller operation becomes available again.
| Input state | Command | Remote controller |
|---|---|---|
| Forced-stop input active | Forced stop | Operation invalid |
| Forced-stop input inactive | Normal control | Operation available |
Do not apply external voltage directly to the Orange and Yellow wires. Use a field-supplied isolated contact or interposing relay that meets the specified contact rating.
Typical input applications
BMS relay Card-key switch Occupancy relay External timer Fire or shutdown interface
3. External outputs
Operation-status output
| Specification | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Wires | Blue / Purple |
| Output load | Relay: maximum 24 V DC, 10 mA to less than 500 mA |
| Maximum wiring distance | 10 m |
| Indoor unit operating | Output ON |
| Indoor unit stopped | Output OFF |
The operation output indicates only run or stop. It does not provide operating mode, set temperature or airflow information.
Error-status output
| Specification | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Wires | Red / White |
| Output load | Relay: maximum 24 V DC, 10 mA to less than 500 mA |
| Maximum wiring distance | 10 m |
| Normal condition | Output OFF |
| Error condition | Output ON |
Error-output limitation: The output indicates only normal or error status. The actual fault code must be read from the indoor unit, remote controller or applicable service display.
4. Installation procedure
| 1 | Isolate all power. Confirm the indoor and outdoor units are electrically isolated before removing covers. |
| 2 | Confirm the correct PCB connection. Refer to the indoor-unit installation manual and communication-kit instructions. |
| 3 | Connect the required harnesses. Orange/Yellow for input, Blue/Purple for operation output and Red/White for error output. |
| 4 | Secure the wiring. Use the binder clamp and binder so the leads cannot contact sharp edges, moving components or high-voltage wiring. |
| 5 | Connect the field equipment. Use suitable interposing relays and insulate all extended joints. |
| 6 | Set the required input function. Select Operation/Stop or Forced Stop using the indoor-unit function setting. |
| 7 | Commission all functions. Test ON/OFF or Forced Stop, operation status and error status individually. |
5. Functional summary
| Function | Supported? |
|---|---|
| Remote Operation/Stop | Yes |
| Forced Stop | Yes |
| Operation-status output | Yes |
| Error-status output | Yes |
| Mode selection by external input | No |
| Temperature adjustment by external input | No |
| Detailed fault-code output | No |
