2019 AIRSTAGE VRF Controls Portfolio
Individual control, centralised control, BMS integration and system expansion
Reference guide for the 2019 General / Fujitsu General controls range
The 2019 AIRSTAGE controls portfolio provides a structured range of solutions from simple room-based operation through to multi-site system management and Building Management System integration.
Compatibility must be confirmed: Not every controller, gateway or adaptor is compatible with every indoor unit or VRF generation. Always confirm the exact indoor model, outdoor generation, controller wiring type and required communication interface before quoting or installation.
1. Portfolio structure
| Control level | Typical purpose | Typical products |
|---|---|---|
| Individual control | Room or zone-level operation | Wired, simple and wireless remote controllers |
| Group control | Control several remote-controller groups from one point | UTY-CGGY with UTY-VGGXZ1 |
| Centralised control | Building-level monitoring, scheduling and restriction | UTY-DCGYZ1, UTY-DTGYZ1 |
| Enterprise control | Large sites, multi-building or multi-site management | UTY-APGXZ1, UTY-ALGXZ1 |
| BMS integration | Connection to BACnet, MODBUS, KNX or LONWORKS systems | UTY-ABGXZ1, UTY-VBGX, UTY-VMGX, UTY-VKGX, UTY-VLGX |
| Online / remote control | Remote user access and monitoring | Wireless LAN interfaces and web-enabled controllers |
2. Individual control options
| Controller | Model | Maximum control | Key functions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Touch-panel wired controller | UTY-RNRYZ3 | 16 indoor units / 1 group | 2-wire control, weekly timer, room sensor, auto-off, energy-saving controls and error history |
| Wired controller | UTY-RLRY | 16 indoor units / 1 group | 2-wire control, weekly timer, room sensor, error display and error history |
| High-grade wired controller | UTY-RVNYM | 16 indoor units / 1 group | Weekly timer, multilingual display, energy-saving settings and auto-off timer |
| Simple controller | UTY-RSRY / UTY-RHRY | 16 indoor units / 1 group | Basic operation, room sensor and setpoint limitation; UTY-RHRY omits mode selection |
| Legacy simple controller | UTY-RSNYM / UTY-RSKY / UTY-RHKY | 16 indoor units / 1 group | Basic 3-wire room control for offices and hotels |
| Wireless controller | UTY-LNHY | Up to 16 indoor units in a group | Four timer programs, code selection and wireless room operation |
IR receiver units are required when using a wireless remote controller with many ducted and cassette indoor units. The receiver model depends on the indoor-unit type.
Wireless and external control
| Product | Model | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Wireless LAN interface | UTY-TFNXZ1 / UTY-TFSXZ1 / UTY-TFSXW1 / UTY-TFSXF2 | Smartphone and tablet control, weekly timer, error display and email notification |
| External switch controller | UTY-TERX | Card-key, occupancy sensor and external switch integration for one group |
| MODBUS convertor for one indoor | UTY-VMSX | Integrates a single indoor unit into an RS485 MODBUS network |
| KNX convertor for one indoor | UTY-VKSX | Integrates a single indoor unit into a KNX network |
3. Centralised and enterprise controls
| Product | Model | Maximum capacity | Typical application |
|---|---|---|---|
| Group remote controller | UTY-CGGY with UTY-VGGXZ1 | 8 remote-controller groups; up to 92 indoor units across 2 refrigerant systems | Small hotels, office areas and grouped zones |
| Central remote controller | UTY-DCGYZ1 | 100 indoor units / 50 groups | Small and medium buildings or tenant systems |
| Touch panel controller | UTY-DTGYZ1 | 400 indoor units / 400 groups / 100 outdoor units | Large buildings requiring local and web-based operation |
| System Controller Lite | UTY-ALGXZ1 | 1 VRF network, 400 indoor units and 100 outdoor units | Small to medium building management |
| System Controller | UTY-APGXZ1 | 4 VRF networks, 1,600 indoor units and 400 outdoor units | Large buildings, campuses and multi-site management |
Key central-control functions
Scheduling Remote-controller restrictions Error monitoring Email notifications Low-noise scheduling Energy management Charge apportionment Remote web access
4. BMS and open-protocol integration
| Protocol | Model | Typical capacity |
|---|---|---|
| BACnet software gateway | UTY-ABGXZ1 | Up to 4 VRF networks, 1,600 indoor units and 400 outdoor units |
| BACnet hardware gateway | UTY-VBGX | 128 indoor units and 32 refrigerant systems per unit |
| LONWORKS network convertor | UTY-VLGX | One VRF network per convertor |
| MODBUS convertor | UTY-VMGX | System-level BMS integration |
| KNX convertor | UTY-VKGX | System-level KNX integration |
BMS gateways require correct VRF-network addressing, appropriate network hardware, protocol configuration and coordination with the building-controls contractor.
5. Recommended control approach by application
| Application | Recommended architecture |
