1. Purpose
The Low Noise and Peak Cut functions enable service technicians and installers to adjust outdoor unit operation based on site requirements:
Low Noise Mode: Reduces compressor and fan speed to lower operating sound levels.
Peak Cut Mode: Limits compressor current draw to reduce power consumption during high-demand periods.
These functions are controlled either externally (via a switch or timer input) or locally (through the control PCB settings).
2. External Input & Output Overview
| Connector | Input | Output | Function | Remarks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CN10 | Low Noise Mode | — | Enables Low Noise operation via contact input | Requires external switch / timer |
| CN11 | Peak Cut Mode | — | Limits compressor current via contact input | Requires external switch / timer |
| CN12 | — | Error Status | Outputs fault signal | DC 24 V max, 500 mA |
| CN13 | — | Compressor Status | Outputs compressor run status | DC 24 V max, 500 mA |
Optional Part:
External Connect Kit – UTY-XWZXZ3
3. External Input Wiring
Purpose:
Allows control of Low Noise and Peak Cut via external signal or timer.
Connector Location: Outdoor unit control PCB (CN10/CN11)
Signal Type: Dry contact (ON/OFF)
Contact Capacity: DC 24 V or more, 10 mA minimum
Maximum Cable Length: 10 meters
Circuit Example (Low Noise or Peak Cut):
Connect a commercial timer or switch between the signal and ground terminal.
When the contact closes → the respective mode activates.
When the contact opens → unit returns to normal operation.
| Input Signal | Operating Mode |
|---|---|
| ON | Function active |
| OFF | Normal operation |
4. External Output Wiring
Purpose:
Provides external monitoring signals for Error Status and Compressor Operation.
Circuit Specification:
Voltage: DC 24 V or less
Load Current: DC 500 mA or less
Max Cable Distance: 10 meters
Use the same UTY-XWZXZ3 harness kit for connection.
5. Local Function Setting Procedure
The Low Noise and Peak Cut levels can be set directly on the outdoor control PCB.
Switch and LED Layout
| Switch | Function |
|---|---|
| SW1 | MODE – Access Local Setting / Error Display |
| SW2 | SELECT – Navigate setting items |
| SW3 | ENTER – Confirm setting |
| SW4 | EXIT – Return to normal operation |
| SW5 | PUMP DOWN – Starts pump down operation |
LED Indicators:
L1: Pump Down
L2/L3: Low Noise Mode
L4/L5/L6: Peak Cut Mode
6. Low Noise Mode Setting Procedure
Press SW1 (MODE) for 3 seconds → “Local Setting Mode” activates.
Confirm POWER/MODE LED blinks 9 times.
Press SW3 (ENTER) once.
Use SW2 (SELECT) to adjust Low Noise level:
MODE 1 (L2 blink) → Standard reduction
MODE 2 (L3 blink) → Enhanced reduction
Press SW3 (ENTER) to save.
Press SW4 (EXIT) to return to normal operation.
| Mode | Effect |
|---|---|
| 1 | Fan and compressor speed reduction (approx. -3 dB) |
| 2 | Further reduction, increased sound attenuation |
7. Peak Cut Mode Setting Procedure
Press SW1 (MODE) for 3 seconds to enter Local Setting.
Confirm POWER/MODE LED blinks 9 times.
Press SW3 (ENTER).
Use SW2 (SELECT) to adjust power limit:
L4/L5/L6 Pattern defines limit level.
Press SW3 (ENTER) to store setting.
Press SW4 (EXIT) to return to Normal Operation.
| LED Pattern (L4-L6) | Power Input Limit |
|---|---|
| ● ○ ○ | 0 % (Stop) |
| ○ ● ○ | 50 % |
| ○ ○ ● | 75 % |
| ● ● ● | 100 % (Normal) |
8. Verification
After configuration:
Low Noise LED (L2/L3) indicates active noise reduction.
Peak Cut LED (L4–L6) pattern shows the active limitation level.
Verify the change in compressor current and sound level during operation.
9. Service Notes
Always stop the air conditioner before entering local setting mode.
Discharge static electricity before touching the control PCB.
Do not adjust while the unit is running.
Ensure wiring insulation and correct polarity when using external contacts.
For combined control (BMS or timer integration), use isolated dry contacts.
