Our units cannot be charged with any type of refrigerant other than that listed on the name plate. There are a few reasons for this being:
In the example of R22 to R410a
- The pipe is not rated at higher pressures of R410a
- The oil in the compressor is not compatible with R410a
- The system has not been designed to run with anything other than R22
R410a to R32
- The system has not been designed to have a mildly flammable refrigerant
- The oil is different in the compressor
- The compressor has not been registered as part of the regulations
R410, R32 or R22 to a hydrocarbon
- The system has not been designed to run with a flammable A2 class refrigerant
- The product has not been registered to run with any other refrigerant other than what is stated on the name plate
- Our service agents aren’t trained in to use of hydrocarbons
According to Airah, the following should apply
If our field teams or any other agent comes across a system that has been retrofitted, we have instructed them to instruct the customer that the customer needs to return the unit to its designed condition before working on the product
