J Series – Service Parts Testing & Diagnostic Reference

Technical reference for checking key J Series electrical and refrigeration components, including expected resistance, voltage, pressure and operating values.

Important: Isolate power before disconnecting connectors or carrying out resistance/continuity checks. Live voltage checks must only be completed by appropriately qualified personnel using suitable test equipment and safe working practices.

1. Current transformer / Filter PCB

Part No.: 9705256026 (Filter PCB)

  • Check connector connections at CN202 and CN11.
  • Check CT terminal resistance between CN202 / CN11 circuit. Reference resistance: approximately 110 Ω.
  • If the resistance is abnormal, replace the Filter PCB.

2. Main power relay

Part No.: 9900262013

  • Check all relay terminal connections and the connection to CN12 on the PWB ASSY.
  • Relay coil resistance: approximately 120 Ω.
  • If the relay does not operate between COM and ON, check coil resistance and confirm DC 12 V at CN12.
  • If DC 12 V is not present, replace the Control PCB.
  • If the relay remains ON when all indoor units are stopped (excluding preheat control), disconnect the relay connector and check COM–ON continuity. Continuity with the relay disconnected indicates welded/shorted contacts.

3. Diode power bridge

Part No.: 0100122039

  • Check each terminal connection between the diode bridge and ACTPM.
  • Remove each terminal before checking the circuit for open or short conditions.
  • The service reference shows approximately 1 MΩ or greater for the specified test direction.
  • If the readings are abnormal, replace the diode bridge.

4. Active filter module

Part No.: 9707278019

  • Disconnect the module and check for open/short circuit and diode D1 condition.
  • Check output DC voltage between P and N1 with the compressor stopped and operating.
  • If compressor-running output voltage is lower than the stopped output voltage, the Active Filter Module is considered defective and should be replaced.
The manual provides different resistance reference values depending on the multimeter used (including FLUKE 11 and Sanwa PM3). Use the values in the applicable service data when performing detailed semiconductor checks.

5. TR ASSY / IPM checks

Part No.: 9705253032

  • Confirm circuit connections between the TR PCB ASSY and Control PCB.
  • Check IPM power supply: DC 15 V between terminals 1–2 of CN16. If not present, replace the Control PCB.
  • For the TR PCB trip-terminal check, disconnect CN14 between the TR PCB ASSY and Control PCB.
  • Check DC 5 V between terminals 1–2 and 2–3 of the CN14 connector side.
  • The service data also provides IPM P/N to U/V/W resistance checks; readings are tester-dependent. A digital-meter reference of 1 MΩ or greater is shown for the specified checks.

6. Compressor ASSY

Electrical checks

  • Confirm U, V and W wiring to the TR PCB ASSY.
  • Check winding resistance between each compressor terminal.
  • Reference winding resistance: 0.187 Ω.
  • If the resistance is 0 Ω or open circuit, replace the compressor.

Operating checks

  • Pressure can decrease with low refrigerant charge or restricted piping.
  • Discharge temperature can rise with low refrigerant charge.
  • Operating current can rise with low refrigerant charge or a locked/rocked compressor.

7. Outdoor fan motor

  • Check wiring between Control PCB CN2, joint connector and fan motor.
  • Check the fan capacitor connections (yellow / black).
  • At standby, check approximately AC 220 V ±20 V between CN2(2) and CN1(2).
  • If supply is 0 V, check AC input CN1 and the power supply.
  • Inspect the airflow path for wall clearance, dirt, mud or other obstruction.

8. Pressure switches

  • Check CN19, CN20 and the switch-side terminal connections.
  • With the pipe connected, normal switch continuity is shown as SHORT.
  • Check DC 5 V between terminals 1–2 of CN19 or CN20. If it is not present, replace the Control PCB.

9. Solenoid valves SV1 / SV2

  • Check connectors CN4 and CN5 and inspect the cable for damage/open circuit.
  • Coil resistance: approximately 1.5 kΩ for each coil.
  • During normal operation, voltage across CN4/CN5 terminals 1–2 is 0 V.
  • When the valve is energised for protection operation etc., voltage becomes approximately AC 220 V ±20 V.
  • Confirm valve position by comparing inlet and outlet pipe temperatures.
  • If a bypass cannot release during normal operation, disconnect the desired valve connector. If the bypass then releases, suspect the Control PCB/relay circuit. If it remains bypassed, replace the valve.
  • Possible mechanical causes include oxidised-film clogging or valve deformation from overheating during installation.

10. Outdoor EEV1

  • Check CN17 connection.
  • Power-cycle the outdoor PCB several times to initialise EEV positioning.
  • With CN17 removed, check DC 12 V output. If 0 V, replace the main PWB.
  • At power-up, listen for the magnetised/initialisation sound. If absent, the manual directs replacement of the Control PCB.
  • Confirm valve opening/closing by temperature difference across the valve piping.
  • A temperature difference across the strainer may indicate clogging. Also check valve movement by changing from cooling to heating or heating to cooling.

11. Optional EV Kit – UTR-EV2A / UTR-EV3

  • Check connector CN14.
  • Power-cycle the outdoor PCB several times to initialise valve positioning.
  • Check DC 12 V at the PCB output with CN14 removed. If 0 V, replace the main PCB.
  • Confirm initialisation sound, valve opening/closing by pipe temperature and strainer condition.

12. 4-way valve

4-way valve: 9970035012   |   Solenoid coil: 9900191016

  • Check connector CN6.
  • Remove CN6 and measure coil resistance. Reference: 1.6 kΩ.
  • If open circuit or abnormal, replace the solenoid coil.
  • Confirm valve location by comparing pipe temperatures in heating and cooling operation.
  • During heating, with the compressor operating, CN6 should show approximately AC 220 V ±20 V. If not, replace the Control PCB.

A measurement outside the listed reference is an indicator for further diagnosis, not a substitute for confirming supply, wiring, connectors, mechanical condition and system operating conditions.
