Occurrence Condition

The issue may occur when the applicable System Controller software is installed and started for the first time after 19 January 2018.

Temporary Recovery Procedure

  1. Change the PC date and time so that the year is 2017. The bulletin notes that the exact date is not important.
  2. Start the VRF System Controller.
  3. When the Login Setting screen appears, close the window using the X button, then exit the System Controller from the Windows task tray.
  4. Set the PC date and time back to the current date and time.
  5. Restart the System Controller.
Purpose of the procedure: The temporary date change allows the controller to complete its initial startup and certificate creation. Once this has been completed, the PC date can be restored and the controller restarted normally.

How to Check the Software Version

The bulletin provides three methods for identifying the installed software version.

1. Carton Box

Check the version printed on the label attached to the carton box.

2. CD or DVD Label

Check the version printed below the model name on the label side of the CD or DVD.

Note: The version is not printed on the WHITE-USB-KEY.

3. From the Running Application

  1. Locate the VRF Controller icon in the Windows task tray.
  2. Right-click the icon.
  3. Select Version from the menu.
  4. Check the version displayed on screen.

Service Guidance

  • If the System Controller fails to start and shows an SSL certificate creation error, first confirm the controller model and software version.
  • Confirm whether the installation / first startup occurred after 19 January 2018.
  • Apply the temporary date-change procedure above to complete the initial startup.
  • After restoring the correct PC date and time, confirm the System Controller launches normally.
