Wi-Fi Adapter LED Behaviour and Reset
Understanding power, communication, setup and fault indications
The LEDs on the Wi-Fi adapter provide a quick indication of power, network connection, setup status and some fault conditions. Use the tables below to identify the current adapter state before carrying out a reset or further troubleshooting.
1. Power LED (Green)
| Status | Meaning |
|---|
| ON (Solid) | Adapter is powered and operating normally. |
| Flashing (Slow) | Adapter is booting or initialising. |
| Flashing (Fast) | Reset process or firmware update is in progress. |
| OFF | No power is present or the adapter may have a fault. |
2. Communication LED (Orange / Amber)
| Status | Meaning |
|---|
| ON (Solid) | Successfully connected to a Wi-Fi network. |
| Flashing (Slow) | Searching for or attempting to connect to a Wi-Fi network. |
| Flashing (Fast) | Connection error or the adapter is attempting to re-establish communication. |
| OFF | Adapter is not connected to Wi-Fi. |
3. WPS / Setup LED (Blue)
| Status | Meaning |
|---|
| Flashing every 0.5 seconds | WPS mode is active and waiting for pairing. |
| Flashing every 2 seconds | A connection is being established. |
| ON (Solid) | Pairing has been successful. |
| OFF | WPS / setup mode is inactive. |
4. Error and Reset Indications
| LED Pattern | Meaning / Action |
|---|
| Both LEDs flash together 3 times | Adapter reset has been initiated or completed. |
| Alternating LED flashes | Communication or registration failure. |
| All LEDs OFF | Check the adapter power supply and physical connection. |
5. Initialisation / Reset Procedure
- Press and hold the SETUP button for 10 seconds or more.
- All LEDs will flash three times simultaneously at approximately 0.5-second intervals.
- The adapter will then reboot and return to its normal LED indication.
Important: A reset can clear the adapter's network or registration settings. Only perform a reset when required as part of setup or troubleshooting, and be prepared to reconnect the adapter to Wi-Fi afterwards.
