UTY-RVNYN Backlit Wired Remote Controller

Basic operation, functions, timers and troubleshooting

The UTY-RVNYN is a backlit wired remote controller used to operate compatible Fujitsu air-conditioning systems. Available functions vary according to the connected indoor unit, system configuration and installer settings.
Safety: If there is a burning smell, unusual heat, smoke or another serious malfunction, stop operation, switch off the circuit breaker and contact authorised service personnel. The controller contains no user-serviceable parts.

1. Controller layout

ControlPurpose
Backlit displayShows operating mode, set temperature, fan speed, time, room temperature when enabled, active timers and system messages.
On/Off buttonStarts or stops the air conditioner. The green power indicator illuminates while operating and flashes if an error occurs.
Menu buttonOpens the Menu screen. Pressing it again opens the Submenu screen.
Left and right screen buttonsMoves between related screens when the relevant screen names are shown along the bottom of the display.
Cursor buttonsMoves the selection and changes highlighted values. Press the marked up, down, left or right area rather than diagonally.
Enter buttonConfirms a highlighted item or saves a setting.
Cancel buttonCancels the current change or returns to the previous screen.
Backlight behaviour: Pressing a button normally illuminates the display first. When the backlight has automatically switched off, the first press may only illuminate the screen and the intended action may require a second press. The On/Off button is excluded from this behaviour.

2. Basic operation

Start or stop operation

Press the On/Off button. The green power indicator turns on when the system is operating. Press the button again to stop operation.

Select an operating mode

From the Monitor screen, highlight Mode using the left or right cursor button, then use the up or down cursor button to select the required mode.

AutoThe system automatically selects an appropriate operating mode where supported.
CoolLowers the room temperature.
DryReduces humidity. Fan speed is automatically controlled and cannot be manually selected.
FanCirculates air without heating or cooling. The set temperature cannot be adjusted.
HeatRaises the room temperature.
Only operating modes supported by the connected system are displayed. Some modes may also be restricted by a central controller or management setting.

Adjust the set temperature

On the Monitor screen, highlight Set temp. with the left or right cursor button, then adjust the setting with the up or down cursor button.

  • Cool, Dry and Auto: normally 18°C to 30°C.
  • Heat: normally 16°C to 30°C.
  • The available range may be narrower where a temperature-range limit has been configured.

Adjust the fan speed

On the Monitor screen, highlight Fan and select Auto, High, Medium, Low or Quiet. In Dry mode, fan speed is fixed to Auto.

3. Function settings

From the Monitor screen, press Menu, select Function, and press Enter.

Airflow directionAdjusts vertical or horizontal louvre position and swing operation where supported by the indoor unit.
EconomyReduces energy consumption by allowing a small temperature offset from the normal setting.
Set temperature auto returnReturns the set temperature to a preset value after 30 to 120 minutes. This is generally configured from the primary controller.
Set temperature rangeLimits the lower and upper temperatures users can select. This is generally configured from the primary controller.

4. Timer settings

Press Menu, select Timer, then press Enter.

TimerHow it works
On timerStarts the system after a selected delay of up to 24 hours, adjustable in 30-minute increments.
Off timerStops the system after a selected delay of up to 24 hours, adjustable in 30-minute increments.
Weekly timerProvides two schedules, Weekly 1 and Weekly 2. Up to eight On or Off patterns can be programmed for each day, including operating mode and temperature for On events.
Auto-off timerStops operation 30 to 240 minutes after the system is manually started from this controller. A daily valid time period can also be specified.
Important weekly timer requirement: For each scheduled On event, select the time, On status, operating mode and temperature. The schedule may not operate if these details are incomplete.

Weekly timer day off

A day can be temporarily excluded by using the Day off setting. This skips the selected day once only. The normal weekly schedule resumes the following week.

5. Submenu and display settings

From the Monitor screen, press the Menu button twice to open the Submenu.

SettingPurpose
Date and timeSets the date, time, daylight saving time and date/time display format.
ScreenAdjusts automatic backlight-off time, brightness and display contrast. Automatic light-off choices are 30 seconds, 60 seconds or Off.
Filter signDisplays or resets the filter-cleaning notification where this function has been enabled during installation.
Remote controller sensorAllows the controller's built-in room-temperature sensor to be used where enabled by the installer.
Room temperature displayShows the approximate temperature measured around the controller. This may differ from the temperature elsewhere in the room.
Key lockSelects Child lock, which restricts all buttons, or Part lock, which restricts Menu operation.
Initial settingsSelects language and Celsius or Fahrenheit display. Available languages depend on the system configuration.

Lock or unlock the controller

On the Monitor screen, press and hold the Cancel button for approximately three seconds. Repeat the same action to release the lock.

6. Zone-control functions

When connected to a compatible zone-control system, the controller may display additional Zone (single), Zone (group) and zone naming screens.

  • Up to eight zones may be displayed.
  • Zone (single) allows individual zones and the active room-temperature sensor to be selected.
  • Zone (group) allows configured Day, Night or All groups to be selected.
  • Some installations require at least one zone to remain open.

7. Cleaning and care

  • Stop operation before cleaning the controller.
  • Wipe the surface gently with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not pour water or cleaning solvent onto the controller.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, benzene, thinner, insecticide or hair spray.

8. Troubleshooting

Controller does not operateCheck the circuit breaker, power supply, active timers and whether Child lock or Part lock is enabled.
A function cannot be changedThe function may be disabled, restricted by management control, unavailable on the connected indoor unit, or adjustable only from the primary controller.
On or Off timer stopped working after a blackoutA power interruption cancels these timers. Enable and configure the timer again after power is restored.
Weekly timer does not operateConfirm that Weekly 1 or Weekly 2 is selected and that each required On pattern contains a time, mode and temperature.
Set temperature changes automaticallyCheck whether Set temperature auto return or Set temperature range limitation is active.
Green power indicator flashesAn error has been detected. Record the displayed error code and contact authorised service personnel.
