UTY-PEGX kWh Meter Setup
Electricity charge apportionment, pulse input wiring and grouping rules
For sites using UTY-PEGX/System Controller to apportion electrical energy consumption between tenants, zones or contract boundaries.
UTY-PEGX uses pulse outputs from kWh meters to calculate active energy consumption for defined groups and contracts. Correct meter placement, pulse configuration and grouping are essential for valid apportionment results.
Licensed electrical personnel only: CT, VT, meter supply and associated electrical work must be completed in accordance with local electrical regulations and the applicable manufacturer instructions.
1. How the kWh meter is used by UTY-PEGX
UTY-PEGX totals active energy (kWh) for each allocation boundary, such as a tenant or contract, by counting pulses from a connected kWh meter.
Each pulse represents a fixed amount of energy according to the meter constant. UTY-PEGX converts these pulses into kWh for reporting and electricity charge apportionment.

2. Electrical integration overview
A typical installation includes the following:
- Electricity meter (whm/kWh meter): Measures the circuit using CTs and, where required, VT/PT measurement.
- Pulse transmission line: CVV-S cable from the meter pulse output to the System Controller.
- External input connection: System Controller external input using Wire A, P/N 9368777005.
- Field-supplied components: kWh meter, CT, VT if required, power supply and associated cabling.
Commissioning requirement: Program the correct meter constant into UTY-PEGX so the pulse count is converted into the correct kWh value.

3. Grouping and meter placement rules
Critical: Incorrect meter placement can invalidate electricity charge apportionment. The meter arrangement must follow the group and contract boundaries configured in UTY-PEGX.

Practical rule: Use one meter per contract boundary and ensure all connected system groups remain consistent with the UTY-PEGX allocation structure.
4. Field workflow
| 1 | Define contracts and groups: Configure one contract per tenant or charge point in UTY-PEGX and map the applicable indoor units and RB groups. |
| 2 | Install meters: Place meters on feeders serving each contract boundary and comply with all grouping rules above. |
| 3 | Wire the meter: Connect CT/VT and meter supply as required. Bring the pulse output to the System Controller external input using the specified wiring and connector. |
| 4 | Configure pulse constants: Enter the correct pulses/kWh value and label each input to match the applicable contract or area. |
| 5 | Validate operation: Carry out a timed-load test and confirm UTY-PEGX pulse counts and kWh totals increase in line with the physical meter register. |
5. Good practice and troubleshooting
- One meter per contract boundary: Do not mix electrical loads belonging to different contracts.
- Pulse wiring: Keep pulse lines short and shielded where required, and follow local requirements for measurement, control and ELV cabling.
- Incorrect totals: Re-check the meter constant, pulse polarity and pulse input configuration.
- Unexpected apportionment: Confirm the meter is not unintentionally splitting a Remote Controller Group or Outdoor Unit Group, and that it does not cross contract boundaries.

6. Safety and compliance
All CT, VT and electricity meter installation work must be completed by licensed personnel in accordance with local electrical regulations. Follow the applicable meter manufacturer installation instructions and the System Controller documentation for external input connectors and pulse wiring.
