Overview

This document provides a reference for fan motor diagnostic testing across various Fujitsu indoor and outdoor unit models. It includes resistance and diode test values for both DC Brushless and AC Induction fan motors.
All resistance readings are taken at 20°C ambient temperature.

Testing Procedure

1. DC Brushless Fan Motors

Test Method: Diode Mode

  • Disconnect the fan motor harness from the control PCB.

  • Using a multimeter in diode test mode, check the voltage drop between the colour-coded wires.

  • Compare results to the model-specific table provided.

Typical Expected Values:

Abnormal readings (O/L or 0 V) may indicate a shorted or open winding, internal diode failure, or PCB communication fault.

2. AC Induction Fan Motors

Test Method: Resistance (Ω)

  • Isolate power and remove the motor connector.

  • Measure between listed colour pairs.

  • Compare against reference ohmic values from the table.

Typical Expected Values:

Deviations above ±8% suggest winding degradation or thermal damage.

3. Notes and Cautions

  • Always ensure power is isolated before testing.

  • Allow the motor to reach ambient temperature for accurate readings.

  • If in doubt, confirm continuity from PCB output terminals.

  • Never disconnect or reconnect DC fan motors with power applied—risk of PCB damage.

Service Tip

Fan motor faults often present as outdoor unit non-operation, fan lock (E6/E7), or overcurrent protection (L3). Confirm test results before replacing the fan or main PCB.
