LIGTHS FLASHING ON THE FRONT COVER OF A UNIT CAN MEAN MANY DIFFERENT THINGS
FIRST NEED TO FIND OUT WHAT LIGHTS ARE DOING WHAT? THERE ARE 3 LIGHTS OPERATION / TIMER / ECONOMY.
FAULT CODES: IF ALL 3 LIGHTS ARE FLASHING GENERALY THIS WOULD INDICATE A FAULT CODE.
TO OBTAIN THE FAULT CODE WE NEED TO COUNT THE NUMBER OF FLASHES THE OPERATION AND TIMER LIGHTS FLASHES (DON’T WORRY ABOUT FLASHES ON THE ECONOMY LIGHT).
THERE WILL BE A SEQUENCE OF FLASHES AND THEN A PAUSE FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN THE SEQUENCE WILL START AGAIN, IT IS ALWAYS GOOD IF WE CAN GET THIS FAULT CODE SO THAT THEY CAN GIVE THE SERVICES TECH A BIT OF AN IDEA OF WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR WHEN THEY GO TO SITE.
PRE-HEAT AND DEFROST: WHEN THE UNIT IS PUT INTO HEATING MODE IT WILL GO THROUGHT THESE 2 FUNCTIONS, PRE-HEAT IS WHEN THE INDOOR UNIT IS WARMING UP SO IT DOESN’T BLOW COLD AIR AROUND THE ROOM, WHEN THE SYSTEM IS IN THIS MODE IT WILL SHOW THE OPERATION LIGHT ON STEADY AND THE TIMER LIGHT WILL FLASH (ON MOST MODLES).
WHEN THE UNIT GOES INTO DEFROST MODE DEPENDING ON THE MODLE THE LIGHTS ON THE FRONT MAY FLASH TO INDICATE THIS FUNCTION (CHECK OPERATION MANUAL FOR THE CUSTOMERS MODLE TO SEE HOW DEFROST IS INDICATED), IF SYSTEM HAS BEEN RUNNING AND HEATING THEN STOPS FOR A PERIODE AND THEN STARTS BACK UP AFTER ABOUT 15 MINS THIS IS GENERALY GOING TO BE WHAT CAUSED IT, IF THE SYSTEM REMAINS OFF AND DOESN’T COME BACK ON THEY MAY NEED TO GET A SERVICE TECH TO COME TO SITE.
RESETTING FLASHING LIGHTS: THE CUSTOMER CAN TRY TO RESET THE SYSTEM TO SEE IF THE SYSTEM WILL RUN BEFORE GETTING A SERVICE TECH OUT, THEY WILL NEED TO TURN THE SYSTEM OFF AT IT MAIN POWER SUPPLY FOR 20 MINS TO DO A HARD RESET ON THE SYSTEM.
THIS CAN BE DANGEROUS SO MAKE SURE THE CUSTOMER UNDERSTANDS WHAT THEY ARE ABOUT TO DO AND THAT THERE CAN BE A RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, SOME CUSTOMER WILL BE FINE WITH DOING THIS OTHER MAY NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DOING IT.
IF THE SYSTEM CONTINUSE TO GO INTO THE FLASH LIGHT SEQUENCE THEY WILL NEED TO GET A SERVICE TECH OUT.
